In a cylinder head of an engine having an intake port communicating with an combustion chamber of the engine, a mount structure for an engine accessory includes an engine accessory, an accessory mount portion provided on the cylinder head and to which the engine accessory is mounted, and a fuel injection device mount portion provided on the cylinder head and to which a fuel injection device for injecting fuel into the intake port is mounted. The accessory mount portion is joined to the fuel injection device mount portion.

Mount structure for an engine accessory

A lost motion mechanism that biases a free rocker arm of a lift-amount changing member capable of lifting a valve in a direction to abut against a cam includes a spring accommodated in a support portion. The support portion is a recessed portion integrally formed on a camshaft holder below the free rocker arm. The vertical dimension of an engine is reduced as compared with a case where the support portion is provided above the free rocker arm. A camshaft cap supports the camshaft and a bolt that fastens the camshaft cap to the camshaft holder are not required.

An overhead camshaft type valve train includes drive rocker arms interlockingly connected to intake valves (exhaust valves) rockingly supported on a rocker shaft fixed to camholders for rotatably supporting a camshaft, free rocker arms adapted to get free relative to the intake valves (exhaust valves), connection switching mechanisms for switching over the connection and release of connection between the drive rocker arms and the free rocker arms, and lost motion mechanisms for biasing the free rocker arms to a cam side. The respective cam holders are fastened to the cylinder head by pairs of fastening portions with bolts, and holding portions for holding the lost motion mechanisms are formed integrally with the fastening portions.

Overhead camshaft type valve train for internal combustion engine

There is provided a balancing device for a four-cycle V-type eight-cylinder engine having a bank gap angle of 90 degrees, characterized by provision on a common rotating shaft (balance shafts as described in the mode for carrying out the invention) a part (an equivalent inertia mass P in the mode for carrying out the invention) for generating a first inertia force for offsetting a residual secondary inertia force from piston systems and a part (equivalent inertia masses VH, VV as described in the mode for carrying out the invention) for generating a second inertia force for offsetting a residual inertia force from valve systems. According to this construction, since balancing devices for piston and valve systems can be integrated into one unit, there is involved no complexity in construction.

A balancer device for a four-cycle V-type eight cylinder engine having a bank included angle of 90 degrees, including: a crankshaft, a cylinder block having an upper block and a lower block divided from a horizontal plane passing through a center of the crankshaft and balancer shafts. Each of the upper and lower blocks defines a bearing hole in such a manner that an axis thereof extends in parallel with the crankshaft, the bearing holes of the upper and lower blocks being located at positions symmetrical with respect to the dividing plane; and balancer shafts supported to the bearing holes.

The rocker arm holder is disposed above the cylinder bore in substantial central alignment therewith, the rocker arm holder having a plug insertion hole for insertion of the spark plug therethrough.

The rocker arm holder is disposed above the cylinder bore in substantial central alignment therewith, the rocker arm holder having a plug insertion hole for insertion of the spark plug therethrough.

In a valve actuating device of four-cycle internal combustion engine, a valve actuating cam shaft for driving an opening and closing valve via a rocker arm is carried on a cam holder block, an adjusting bolt is held on the cam holder block so as to be adjustable relative to its position to the latter and the rocker arm is supported on a pivot portion integral with the adjusting bolt for rocking motion. Valve clearance between the rocker arm and the opening and closing valve is adjusted by displacing the position of adjusting bolt relative to the cam holder block.
