A sliding member includes a metal substrate and a sliding layer formed on one surface of the metal substrate. The sliding layer has a matrix phase containing Cu and Sn and hard particles dispersed in the matrix phase and containing a Laves phase constituted of a composition of Co, Mo and Si.

Sliding member, bearing, sliding member manufacturing method, and bearing manufacturing method

A sliding member having a supporting layer composed of an iron-based metallic material and a sliding layer formed on a surface of the supporting layer and composed of a copper-based metallic material. The surface of the supporting layer and the sliding layer have non-flat surfaces. A sliding surface having a non-flat surface is formed on the surface of the sliding layer. The sliding layer is formed on the roughened surface of the supporting layer by thermal spraying. The surface of the sliding layer is then subjected to a shot blasting treatment to form the sliding surface which has an uneven surface having an arithmetic average roughness (Ra) of more than 0 &#x3bc;m and 2.0 &#x3bc;m or less, a ten-point average roughness (Rz) of more than 0 &#x3bc;m and 7.5 &#x3bc;m or less and a surface hardness (Hv) of 150-250, and which slidably supports an object to be slid.

Sliding member and method for manufacturing sliding member

To provide a sliding member which has hardness that is suitable for the circumstance, to which heavy load is applied, and which is excellent in abrasion resistance property. The sliding member contains a sliding layer for slidably supporting a body to be slid, shot blasting being performed on a surface of the sliding layer, and a sliding surface formed on a surface of the sliding layer, the sliding surface having an uneven configuration with arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) of 1.0 &#x3bc;m through 2.5 &#x3bc;m, 10-point average roughness (Rz) of 5.0 &#x3bc;m through 10.0 &#x3bc;m, and surface hardness (Hv) of 220 through 250.

Sliding member

A sliding member which has a hardness suitable for use under heavy-load conditions and which exhibits excellent abrasion resistance property. A sliding surface is formed on a surface of a sliding layer that slidably supports an object to be slid. The sliding surface is then shot-blasted and is formed to have an uneven shape exhibiting an arithmetic average roughness (Ra) of more than 0 to 2.0 &#x3bc;m, a ten-point average roughness (Rz) of more than 0 to 7.5 &#x3bc;m, and a surface hardness (Hv) of 150 to 250.

A sliding member which has joined strength that is suitable for the circumstance, to which heavy load is applied, and which is excellent in abrasion resistance property. The sliding member contains a supporting layer composed of ferrous metallic material, and a sliding layer composed of copper metallic material, which is formed on a surface of the supporting layer. The surface of the supporting layer and the sliding layer are configured not to be a plane and a sliding surface formed on a surface of the sliding layer is configured not to be a plane. The sliding layer is formed on the roughened surface of the supporting layer by thermal spraying.

Sliding member and production method for same

To provide a half bearing which has excellent abrasion resistance and surely forms an oil film under boundary lubrication in which it is difficult to form any oil film. A half bearingformed on a circular arc along a direction in which the member to be slid swings is provided with a porous layercomposed of Cu&#x2014;Sn series alloy, which is formed on a surface of a metal substrate, and a sliding layerin which the porous layeris covered with resin materialincluding at least polytetrafluoroethylene and a carbon fiber. An uneven surfacehaving a height which maintains oil to form an oil film and maintains the oil so that the oil film is formed against abrasion when a member to be slid is sliding, is formed on a surface of the sliding layerslidably bearing the member to be slid.

Half bearing

A sliding material has a sintered layer formed atop a backing plate. The sintered layer contains 5-15 mass % of Bi nonuniformly distributed in a Cu&#x2014;Sn alloy matrix consisting essentially of 8-12 mass % of Sn and a remainder of Cu. The sliding material can be manufactured by nonuniformly mixing Cu&#x2014;Sn alloy powder and Bi powder, dispersing the mixed powder on a backing plate, and sintering the mixed powder to form a sintered layer on the backing plate. The sliding material does not undergo seizing and does not have separation of the sintered layer from the backing plate even when used in severe conditions such as in hydraulic equipment or construction equipment.

Sliding material and a method for its manufacture

A conventional Bi-containing sliding material sometimes underwent seizing in a sliding part operating at a high rotational speed. The present invention provides a sliding material which does not undergo seizing in a sliding part operating at a high rotational speed and a method for its manufacture. A low melting point alloy containing at least 20 mass % of Bi and having a liquidus temperature of at most 200&#xb0; C. is made to penetrate into a porous portion comprising a Cu&#x2014;Sn based alloy. A Bi&#x2014;Sn based alloy or a Bi&#x2014;In based alloy is suitable as the low melting point alloy. After a low melting point alloy paste is applied to a porous portion, the low melting point alloy is melted and made to penetrate into the porous portion.

A lead-free journal bearing includes a cylindrical ferrous backing and a bearing alloy layer comprising a bearing alloy powder consisting essentially of 7-13 mass percent of Sn, 0.7-2 mass percent of Ag, optionally at most 0.5 mass percent of molybdenum disulfide, optionally at most 2 mass percent of graphite, and a remainder of Cu sintered to an inner surface of the backing. The bearing is particularly suitable for use in construction equipment.

Lead-free journal bearing

A lead-free plain bearing is formed by dispersing an alloy powder formed from 7-13 mass percent of Sn, 0.1-5 mass percent of Ag, and Cu on a backing, such as a steel plate, and sintering. The alloy powder may further include one or more of 0.05-0.5 mass percent of molybdenum disulfide powder and 0.1-2 mass percent of graphite powder. The bearing surface may be rough finished by machining to a roughness of 0.3-1 &mgr;m Ra and then fine finished by polishing to a roughness of at most 0.1 &mgr;Ra.
