A liquid crystal display device, which includes a first substrate and a second substrate disposed to face each other with a liquid crystal sandwiched therebetween. The first substrate is an electrode-provided substrate having a first electrode and a plurality of second electrodes overlaid on the first electrode via an insulating film, formed on a pixel region on a surface on the liquid crystal side, where one of the first electrode and the second electrodes is a pixel electrode and the other is a counter electrode, having a first liquid crystal alignment film formed on the surface on the liquid crystal side of the first substrate covered with the second electrodes. The second substrate is a substrate having a second liquid crystal alignment film formed on a surface on the liquid crystal side, the second liquid crystal alignment film containing a photosensitive side chain type polymer which develops liquid crystallinity.

Liquid crystal display device

To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent to obtain a liquid crystal alignment film which has favorable seal adhesion and a favorable residual image property, and which is excellent in removability of a decomposed product formed after irradiation with ultraviolet rays. A liquid crystal aligning agent containing at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyimide precursor having structural units represented by the formula (1) and structural units represented by the formula (2) and an imidized polymer of the polyimide precursor: wherein Xand Xare a tetravalent organic group, Yand Yare a bivalent organic group, and Rand Rare a hydrogen atom or a Calkyl group.

Liquid crystal aligning agent, liquid crystal alignment film and liquid crystal display device

To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent to obtain a liquid crystal alignment film which is excellent in the adhesion to a sealing agent and in the liquid crystal alignment property. To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent to obtain a liquid crystal alignment film which is excellent in the adhesion to a sealing agent and a substrate of a liquid crystal display device, and of which a decomposed product formed after irradiation with ultraviolet rays will easily be removed. A liquid crystal aligning agent containing at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyimide precursor having a bond represented by the following formula (1) in its main chain and an imidized polymer of the polyimide precursor: wherein each of R, R, Rand Rwhich are independent of one another, is a hydrogen atom or a Cmonovalent hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, and D is a protecting group to be replaced with a hydrogen atom by heat.

Liquid crystal aligning agent containing polyimide precursor having thermally-leaving group and/or polyimide

A coating film forming composition includes an amino acid generator including a protecting group that is eliminated to generate an amino acid. A coating film forming composition includes a component (A): the amino acid generator; a component (B): a hydrolyzable silane, a hydrolysis product thereof, a hydrolysis-condensation product thereof, or a mixture thereof; and a component (C): a solvent.

To provide a polyamic acid ester-containing polyimide precursor composition having a good storage stability, from which a polyimide film having a high imidization degree and excellent adhesion to an inorganic substrate can be obtained. A polyimide precursor composition comprising a polyamic acid ester, a thermal imidization accelerator and a solvent, wherein the thermal imidization accelerator is a compound which has a carboxy group and an amino group or an imino group which is deprotected by heat to show basicity, and which will not accelerate the imidization of the polyamic acid ester before the protecting group leaves, and a polyimide precursor composition containing a silane coupling agent.
