A specimen collection tip for collecting a specimen includes a base portion, a slender tube extending from one face of the base portion, a plurality of elastically deformable mounting claws extending from the opposite face of the base portion, and a test paper is set in place on the opposite face of the base portion. The base portion is generally in the shape of a flat disc and has a pedestal part for supporting and fixing the test paper. The opposite face of the base portion also includes a flange part formed at the outer peripheral side of the base portion. The lower face of the flange part is formed in a generally flat plane. When the tip is inserted into a tip receiving part of an analyte measuring device, the lower face of the flange part contacts the leading end of the tip receiving part to fix the position of the tip with respect to the tip receiving part.

Collection device for collecting liquid sample

An assembly to be detachably mounted on a body fluid monitoring system is provided. The assembly has a lancet and a device for collecting and detecting a body fluid. The lancet has a puncture needle. In this assembly, the puncture needle is maintained in sterilized conditions until its use, and the sterilization can be conducted with no adverse effects on the detection device. A readily sterilizable lancet unit and a body fluid-collecting and detecting unit adapted for use in such an assembly as well as a body fluid-monitoring system including such an assembly are also provided. The assembly comprises a first housing having a sleeve which movably accommodates the lancet in its interior, and a second housing having the body fluid detection device. The first housing and the second housing share an opening. The lancet is sterilized before the assembly. The body fluid-collecting and detecting section has a body fluid guide on the periphery of the inlet.

Assembly having lancet and means for collecting and detecting body fluid

A liquid specimen collection device includes a main body provided with a passage extending between opposite ends of the main body that defines a capillary tube liquid specimen flow path. One end of the passage opens at a tip end of the body member that is positionable adjacent a liquid specimen for introducing the liquid specimen into the passage while the opposite end of the passage opens at a body surface of the body which surrounds and extends outwardly from the opposite end of the passage. A test paper soaked in reagent is secured to the main body adjacent the opposite end of the passage. A liquid sample introduced into the passage at the tip end of the body member flows by capillary action along the passage to the opposite end of the passage where the specimen is then absorbed by the test paper. The test paper is secured to the body member at a plurality of spaced apart securement locations along a peripheral portion of the test paper with gaps being located between adjacent securement locations through which air is permitted to flow during liquid specimen flow along the liquid specimen flow path. The test paper includes a centrally located protuberance and an annular protuberance extending around the outer circumferential portion of the test paper. The end surface of the tip end of the body member can be provided with a groove extending between the outer peripheral surface of the tip end and the passage in the body member.

Component measuring apparatus and component collecting apparatus

A test instrument for uniformly spreading a collected specimen on a reagent layer has a first opening for collecting the specimen, a specimen spreading layer having an upper surface a portion of which is exposed to the first opening, the reagent layer provided so that an upper surface thereof is in contact with the lower surface of the specimen spreading layer, and a support layer provided on a lower surface of the reagent layer. Even if the specimen does not attached itself in a uniform distribution over the large area of the first opening, it will be evenly distributed at the second opening, the opening area of which is smaller than that of the first opening at which measurement is performed. When an absorbing layer provided in the proximity of the edge portion of the first opening is supplied with an excess amount of the specimen, a direct path to the absorbing layer is blocked by the inner peripheral region of the first opening so that the absorbing layer is soaked via the spreading layer. Consequently, the specimen is distributed on the reagent layer uniformly and at a fixed concentration irrespective of the amount thereof.

Test instrument

A testing device includes a platelike stick and a detecting function part deposited on said stick. The stick is composed of a water-disintegrable layer, a water-soluble layer superposed on at least one surface of the water-disintegrable layer in the part thereof destined to contact an analyte fluid, and a multiplicity of minute pieces of a water-soluble material superposed on the opposite surfaces of the stick at least in the part thereof destined to contact with analyte fluid.
