An optical connector manufacturing method includes inserting a protrusion of a fixing jig into a positioning hole in an end face of a cladding of an optical fiber and restraining rotation of the optical fiber, the positioning hole extending in an optical axis direction, the optical fiber being inserted in a through hole in a connector ferrule and protruding from an end face of the connector ferrule; and securing the optical fiber to the connector ferrule, with the protrusion of the fixing jig inserted in the positioning hole.

Optical connector manufacturing method

A method of producing an optical connection component in which a surrounding of a plurality of bent glass fibers is integrally coated with resin. The method includes a step of preparing upper and lower molds for molding around a fiber array in which the plurality of glass fibers are arranged in a specified arrangement direction. The molds have two walls spaced apart from each other by a larger distance than the width of the fiber array. The method also includes a step of providing around the fiber array the molds such that each of the walls is disposed outside a corresponding one of two glass fibers that are included in the plurality of glass fibers and that are located at respective sides of the fiber array. The method also includes a step of supplying the resin into the molds.

Method of producing optical connection component

An optical connection componentincludes an optical fiberhaving a bent portion BA, and a fiber fixing part. The optical fiberincludes a glass fiberand a resin coating. The fiber fixing partincludes an optical array memberand a protective resin. A distal end of the glass fiberand an end surface of the optical array memberform a reference surface S. The bent portion BA is formed in a region including the exposed glass fiber. A predetermined section in a region C, which continues from the bent portion BA on a side opposite to an end portion of the optical fibersupported by the fiber fixing partwith the bent portion BA interposed therebetween, is inclined to approach the reference surface S while going away from the bent portion BA.

Optical connection component

The present embodiment achieves effective height reduction of an entire optical connection component constituted by a bent optical fiber and a fiber fixing component. The fiber fixing component includes a first portion and a second portion which constitute the holding portion in a state of being arranged in a manner interposing an installation plane in order to hold one of non-bent sections positioned at both ends of a bent portion in a state where the one of non-bent sections is arranged on the installation plane. Total lengths of the first portion and the second portion are different from each other, and effective height reduction of the entire optical connection component can be achieved by arranging the bent portion in a stepped portion formed by the total length difference.
