An inkjet head includes: a pressure chamber; an actuator which expands and contracts volume of the pressure chamber; an ink supply flow channel; an individual supply flow channel having one end connected to the ink supply flow channel and another end connected to the pressure chamber, for guiding ink from the ink supply flow channel to the pressure chamber; a nozzle which ejects the ink; a nozzle flow channel having one end connected to the pressure chamber and another end connected to the nozzle, for guiding the ink from the pressure chamber to the nozzle; an ink recovery flow channel; an individual recovery flow channel having one end connected to the nozzle flow channel at a prescribed connection position set at an intermediate point of the nozzle flow channel and another end connected to the ink recovery flow channel, for guiding the ink from the nozzle flow channel to the ink recovery flow channel; an ink flow generation device which generates a flow of the ink from the nozzle flow channel toward the individual recovery flow channel; and a control device which controls driving of the actuator so as to drive the actuator in such a manner that, when performing ejection, volume of the pressure chamber contracts and thereby the ink is caused to be ejected from the nozzle, and when not performing the ejection, the volume of the pressure chamber expands and thereby a meniscus position of the ink is caused to be withdrawn to a vicinity of the prescribed connection position.

Inkjet head and inkjet recording method

An image is recorded by ejecting two or more ink compositions on a porous layer that contains inorganic microparticles and a water-soluble resin and has a porosity [%] of 50% or more with a maximum total ejection amount (mL/m) set at less than 90% of an absorption capacity (mL/m) of diethylene glycol in the porous layer. The porosity=(absorption capacity of diethylene glycol (mL/m))/(thickness of porous layer (&#x3bc;m))&#xd7;100. The maximum total ejection amount=(maximum ejection amount of one dot (mL/m))&#xd7;(total amount of ink (%)). An inkjet recording method capable of inhibiting color change from occurring to cause color irregularities when papers are stacked on an image portion within a relatively short time after recording in high-speed processing or processing of a large number of sheets, and capable of stably obtaining images recorded with desired color tone.

The image forming apparatus forms an image on a recording medium by using an ink and an aggregating treatment agent. The ink contains coloring material, and the aggregating treatment agent contains a component which causes the coloring material to aggregate. The image forming apparatus includes: a treatment liquid deposition device which deposits a treatment liquid onto the recording medium, the treatment liquid containing the aggregating treatment agent; a treatment liquid heating device which heats the treatment liquid having been deposited on the recording medium to form a solid or semi-solid layer of the aggregating treatment agent on the recording medium; a treatment liquid permeation suppression device which suppresses permeation of the treatment liquid into the recording medium at least from a time of deposition of the treatment liquid onto the recording medium until formation of the solid or semi-solid layer of the aggregating treatment agent; and an ink droplet ejection device which ejects and deposits droplets of the ink onto the recording medium on which the solid or semi-solid layer of the aggregating treatment agent has been formed.

A liquid application apparatus includes: an application roller having an application surface for applying a liquid to a medium, at least the application surface of the application roller being constituted by an elastic body; a liquid holding unit including an abutting part which abuts against a circumferential surface of the application roller so as to form a liquid holding space, the abutting part including a measuring roller which has a projection-recess surface capable of holding a specific amount of the liquid; and a drive control device which rotates the application roller and the measuring roller in such a manner that the liquid is transferred from the application surface to the medium while the liquid is supplied to the application surface from the liquid holding unit, and which halts rotation of the measuring roller while rotating the application roller after an end of application of the liquid to the medium.

An image forming method includes: moisture-controlling one surface of an inkjet recording medium having an air permeability of 300 seconds or more; feeding the moisture-controlled inkjet recording medium onto a conveyance path in a state where the moisture-controlled inkjet recording medium is curled such that a surface of the moisture-controlled inkjet recording medium that is curved inwards faces the conveyance path for conveying the inkjet recording medium; conveying the fed inkjet recording medium while adhering the inkjet recording medium by suction onto the conveyance path; and forming an image by applying ink by an inkjet method on the inkjet recording medium adhered by suction to the conveyance path.

An image forming apparatus includes: a treatment liquid application device which applies a treatment liquid to a recording medium; a treatment liquid supplying device which abuts against the treatment liquid application device so as to form a liquid holding space, fills the treatment liquid into the liquid holding space by use of a liquid delivery device which delivers the treatment liquid to the liquid holding space via a first flow channel from a treatment liquid reservoir storing the treatment liquid, and restores the treatment liquid to the treatment liquid reservoir via a second flow channel from the liquid holding space; a controller which controls at least one of a treatment liquid filling operation and a treatment liquid restoring operation with respect to the liquid holding space; an ink ejecting device which ejects a droplet of an ink onto the recording medium to which the treatment liquid application device has applied the treatment liquid; and an air bubble mixing avoidance device which is provided in the second flow channel and prevents air from discharging in the treatment liquid in the treatment liquid reservoir.

The image forming apparatus, comprises: a plurality of ejection heads which eject liquid containing, a first ultraviolet curing initiator having spectral absorption characteristics at least in a first wavelength range, a second ultraviolet curing initiator which has spectral absorption characteristics at least in a second wavelength range being on a shorter wavelength side from the first wavelength range and has no spectral absorption characteristics in the first wavelength range, an ultraviolet-polymerizable compound, and a coloring material, onto a medium; a semi-curing device which radiates, at least once, ultraviolet light having at least a wavelength which is in the first wavelength range and which is on a longer wavelength side from the second wavelength range, onto dots formed by the liquid ejected from the ejection heads onto the medium; an intermediate processing device which performs intermediate processing of an image formed on the medium by the dots; and a main curing device which radiates ultraviolet light having at least a wavelength in the second wavelength range, onto the image which has undergone intermediate processing by the intermediate processing device.

Image forming apparatus and image forming method

A first image to be recorded on a first surface is divided into front and rear half regions. Obtained thereafter is front-side ink volume and rear-side ink volume necessary for recording these half regions on the first surface. Among these half regions, the one having more ink volume is recorded in the first place. In the event of recording the rear half region in the first place, the first image is turned upside down and recorded on the first surface of the recording paper being fed in a forward direction. Alternatively, the first image is recorded on the first surface of the recording paper being fed in a backward direction. After the ink has dried on the first surface, the recording paper is reversed back to front and fed in the forward direction, and a second image is recorded on a second surface.

The image forming method is for forming an image on an image formation body by using an ink liquid including a coloring material and an aggregation treatment agent including a component that causes the coloring material to aggregate. The image forming method includes: an aggregation treatment layer formation step of forming, on the image formation body, a semisolid aggregation treatment layer that includes the aggregation treatment agent and has a moisture content ratio not more than 56%; an ink droplet deposition step of ejecting droplets of the ink liquid and depositing the droplets of the ink liquid onto the image formation body where the aggregation treatment layer has been formed; and a solvent removal step of removing a liquid solvent present on the image formation body after the ink droplet deposition step.

Objects of the present invention are to facilitate filling out by hand an electronic paper and to realize digitization of contents with which the electronic paper is filled out by hand with a simple structure. A read image is obtained by optically reading a reading-object of the electronic paper. Based on the document information written on the electronic paper and writing-conditions during document writing, which are represented by the document information, a display image of the document in accordance with the read image information is formed. A written image is separated and extracted by converting a density only of pixels among the respective pixels of the read image, whose densities vary in accordance with the document writing and which correspond to a portion, to which ink of a pen for the handwriting is not adhered.

Electric paper reading system

In an image forming apparatus, a liquid ejection head has at least one ejection hole, and a conveyor moves a recording medium relative to the ejection head. A deflector deflects liquid droplets ejected from the ejection hole in a direction including at least a component of a direction substantially parallel to relative conveyance direction of the recording medium. A deflection angle setter sets two or more deflection angles such that when dots mutually adjacent in the direction substantially parallel to the relative conveyance direction of the medium are formed in an overlapping fashion, directions of flight of droplets ejected consecutively are deflected such that their directions of flight become different from each other. Droplet landing time differential between the first droplet and the second droplet becomes equal to or greater than quasi-fixing time period from a landing time of the first liquid droplet until the first liquid droplet becomes quasi-fixed.
