Disclosed herein is an ink-jet recording method in which recording is conducted with an ink comprising a pigment component on a recording medium comprising a substrate and a porous layer including polymer particles provided thereon. The method comprises, in the case where the pore diameter distribution of the porous layer including polymer particles and the particle diameter distribution of the pigment component are both expressed in terms of frequency distribution, the steps of forming an image upon controlling a proportion of the frequency of the pore diameter of the porous layer including polymer particles, which overlaps the particle diameter distribution of the pigment component, to the frequency of the whole pore diameter of the porous layer including polymer particles to from 0.1% to 10%; and heat-treating the porous layer including polymer particles after the formation of the image.

Ink-jet recording method and print

A light-transmitting recording material for electrophotography is disclosed which has a light-transmitting base material and a surface layer. The surface layer contains a thermoplastic resin and a release agent having a melting point of from 40.degree. C. to 120.degree. C. Also, a heat fixing method is provided in which a toner image is formed and heat-fixed on the above light-transmitting recording material.

Light-transmitting recording material for electrophotography, and heat

A light-transmitting recording material for electrophotography has a light-transmitting base material, a conductive undercoat layer formed on the light-transmitting base material, and a light-transmitting toner acceptable layer formed on the conductive undercoat layer. The surface resistivity of the conductive undercoat layer ranges from 1.times.10.sup.7 .OMEGA. to 1.times.10.sup.10 .OMEGA. at 20.degree. C. and 60% relative humidity. The conductive undercoat layer contains a metallic conductive or semiconductive material, and the light-transmitting toner acceptable layer includes a wax as a releasing agent and a thermoplastic resin. Also, a heat fixing method is provided in which a toner image is formed and heat-fixed on the above-mentioned light-transmitting recording material.

An optical recording medium is disclosed which comprises a substrate containing a polycarbonate resin and a recording layer. The substrate contains copolycarbonate resin having constitutional units represented by the formulae (x) and (y) ##STR1## wherein Z of the formula (x) is a direct bond, alkylidene, --O--, --S-- or --SO.sub.2 --; X is H, halogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy or aralkyloxy; R.sub.1 is H, alkyl or aralkyl; m is an integer of 1 to 3; Y of the formula (y) is alkylidene, aryl-substituted alkylene, aryl, --O--, --S--, --CO-- or --SO.sub.2 --; and each of R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 is H, halogen or alkyl!.

A roll stamper for forming an information recording medium substrate has a stamper member having a pattern corresponding to a pre-format for an information recording medium formed in its obverse surface, fixation members fixed to both end portions of a reverse surface of the stamper so as to be integral with the stamper member, and fit grooves formed in a circumferential surface of a specular roll base parallel to the axis of the specular roll base. The fixation members are fitted in the fit grooves, and the stamper member is fixed on the circumferential surface of the specular roll base. The roll stamper also includes a mechanism for applying a tensile force to the stamper member. This roll stamper is used in an apparatus having an extruder for melting and extruding a resin to form a resin sheet and a specular roll facing the roll stamper to continuously form the information recording medium substrate.

Process of making substrate for an optical recording medium

A process for manufacturing a substrate sheet for information recording mediums using a roll stamper including a flexible stamper member having a pattern corresponding to a preformat for an information recording medium, a first fixing member and a second fixing member integrally joined to both ends of the stamper member, and a pair of fit grooves capable of fittingly receiving the fixing members and formed in the periphery of a specular roll substrate in parallel to the axial direction of the specular roll substrate. The fixing members are fitted to the fit grooves so the stamper member is fixed along the periphery of the specular roll substrate between fit grooves. The first fixing member has a first member with a coefficient of linear expansion substantially equal to the coefficient of linear expansion of the stamper member and a second member having a larger coefficient of linear expansion than the coefficient of linear expansion of the first member. The first member is joined to the stamper member and the second member is positioned inside the first member with respect to the second fixing member. Process for manufacturing a substrate sheet for information recording

A method for preparing a substrate sheet for an optical recording medium has the steps of controlling a roll stamper having a preformat pattern on the peripheral surface thereof and a molding roll disposed with a predetermined gap between the same and the roll stamper so that they have a predetermined temperature, feeding a thermoplastic resin heated to a predetermined temperature to the gap from a means for extruding the thermoplastic resin disposed on the upstream side of the gap, while the roll stamper and the molding roll are rotated at a predetermined rotational frequency, and then molding the thermoplastic resin into a sheet by pressing the resin between the roll stamper and the molding roll to transfer the preformat pattern to the resin. The method is characterized in that the molding is carried out under molding conditions regulated so that continuously measured gap temperatures of the substrate sheet may periodically fluctuate in a predetermined amplitude and so that the amplitude may accord with a previously set value of an amplitude corresponding to a desired transfer precision and birefringence value of the substrate sheet for the optical recording medium.

A thermal transfer material including a support and a heat-transferable ink layer disposed thereon, wherein the heat-transferable ink layer has a storage elasticity modulus E' satisfying a relationship of: 1.times.10.sup.7 .ltoreq.E'.ltoreq.1.times.10.sup.9 N/m.sup.2 at 30.degree. C.; and the temperature providing a thermal differential value of dynamic energy loss angle (tan .delta.) satisfying a relationship of d(tan .delta.)/dT=1.times.10.sup.-2 is in the range of 40.degree. to 60.degree. A roll stamper for forming a substrate sheet for information recording mediums has a flexible stamper member having a pattern corresponding to a preformat for an information recording medium; a first fixing member and a second fixing member respectively joined to both ends of the stamper member in an integral form; and a pair of fit grooves capable of fittingly receiving the fixing members, formed in the periphery of a specular roll substrate in parallel to the axial direction of the specular roll substrate. A process for producing a resin molding having a concave-convex pattern on the surface includes the steps of providing an original die having a concave-convex pattern on the surface and a substrate having a flat surface, thereby counterposing the concave-convex pattern surface and the flat surface to each other through a spacer and forming a cell with a cavity formed by the original die, the substrate and the spacer; making an internal pressure of the cell cavity lower than an external pressure thereof, thereby filling at least one of a liquid polymerizable component and a liquid resin into the cavity due to a pressure difference between the external pressure and the internal pressure; curing at least one of the polymerizable component and the liquid resin in the cavity, thereby making a replica; and peeling the original die from the replica, thereby obtaining a resin molding.

A thermal transfer material comprising at least a support, a first ink layer, a second ink layer, a third ink layer and a fourth ink layer disposed in this order on the support, wherein the first ink layer predominantly comprises a water-soluble polyester resin, the second ink layer is capable of causing separation from the first ink layer on heating, and third and fourth ink layers predominantly comprises a thermoplastic resin.

There are provided a 'self-correctable' thermal transfer material and a thermal transfer recording method using the transfer material. The thermal transfer material comprises a support, a first ink layer, a second ink layer and a third ink layer disposed in this order on the support, wherein the first ink layer is a substantially non-transferable layer, the second ink layer is capable of causing separation from the first ink layer on heating; and the third ink layer comprising a thermoplastic resin and a colorant. A recorded image formed by the above-mentioned transfer material can be removed through lift-off correction, by causing the transfer material to adhere to the recorded image under heating, and separating the transfer material from the recording medium without causing separation of the second ink layer.

A thermal transfer material including a support and a heat-transferable ink layer disposed thereon, wherein the heat-transferable ink layer has a storage elasticity modulus E' satisfying a relationship of: 1.times.10.sup.7 .ltoreq.E'.ltoreq.1.times.10.sup.9 N/m.sup.2 at 30.degree. Thermal transfer recording is improved by a recording method involving providing a thermal transfer material having a support and an ink layer disposed thereon and which in turn includes a binder and a colorant. The binder includes 45-70 wt. % of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, 25-50 wt. % of a wax, and 7-12 wt. % of a tackifier based on a total weight of the binder. The ink layer has a breakdown strength of 30-80 kg/cm.sup.2 at 25.degree. C. The method also involves contacting an ink layer side of the thermal transfer material with a recording medium, supplying a pattern of energy from a recording head to the thermal transfer material, and separating the thermal transfer material from the recording medium to leave a transferred image on the recording medium. The thermal transfer material moves in a unit period of time by a first distance relative to the recording head which is smaller than a second distance through which the recording medium moves relative to the recording head in the same unit period of time.
