A glass panel unit includes: a first glass pane; a second glass pane facing the first glass pane; a frame member; an evacuated space; and a gas adsorbent. The frame member hermetically bonds the first glass pane and the second glass pane. The evacuated space is surrounded with the first glass pane, the second glass pane, and the frame member. The gas adsorbent is placed in the evacuated space. The gas adsorbent contains a getter material. The getter material contains a plurality of particles of a zeolite crystal. At least one particle accounting for a half or more of a total weight of the plurality of particles has a particle size equal to or greater than 200 nm. An activable temperature of the at least one particle is equal to or lower than 400° C.

There is provided a method for producing a zeolite more excellent in moisture absorption characteristics. The method includes physically pulverizing a zeolite that has a gradient of a Na/Si value from a surface of the zeolite in a depth direction, that has a proportion of the Na/Si value at a depth of 10 nm from the surface to the Na/Si value at the surface of 90% or more, and that has a proportion of the Na/Si value at a depth of 30 nm from the surface to the Na/Si value at the surface of 70% or more, the Na/Si value representing a composition ratio between Na and Si, and crystallizing the physically pulverized zeolite.

An input device which is a capacitive coupling type and can reduce visibility of wiring patterns of electrodes and interference fringes is provided. The input device is included in a display device including a plurality of pixels, and is configured to detect a contact position of a user. The input device includes a plurality of first electrodes, a plurality of second electrodes disposed so as to cross the first electrodes, and a plurality of third electrodes disposed between the second electrodes. Slits extending obliquely with respect to an extension direction of the second electrodes are formed between the third electrodes.

A structure of a panel which can be thinned down to about a panel thickness of a PDP and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. A gas filling hole is provided to a surface of a rear glass substrate of a PDP, the surface coming in contact with a front glass substrate of the PDP. Vacuuming and filling of a discharge gas are performed through the gas filling hole. After filling of the discharge gas, a mechanism for lifting solder iron up and down and supplying solder provided inside a chamber inserts a tip of an ultrasonic soldering iron into the gas filling hole to start supplying a solder which is a material for a plug sealant. When a series of forming steps of the plug sealant are finished, the ultrasonic soldering iron is retreated before the solder is solidified to finish formation of the plug sealant.

A gas discharge panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate. A plurality of display electrode pairs which are each made up of a sustain electrode and a scan electrode are formed on the first substrate, and the first substrate and the second substrate are set facing each other with a plurality of barrier ribs in between so as to form a plurality of cells. In this gas discharge panel, at least one of the sustain electrode and the scan electrode includes: a plurality of line parts; and a discharge developing part which makes a gap between adjacent line parts smaller in areas corresponding to channels between adjacent barrier ribs than in areas corresponding to the barrier ribs.

A plasma display panel includes: pairs of electrodes having first electrode and second electrode which are arranged in parallel with each other; first substrate having dielectric layer formed so that the dielectric layer can cover the pairs of electrodes; and second substrate having third electrode which is arranged crossing the pairs of electrodes, and the plasma display panel further includes: floating electrodes, protruding onto a discharge space provided on dielectric layer at positions respectively corresponding to first electrode and second electrode, wherein floating electrodes are opposed to each other. Due to the above composition, the discharge starting voltage is reduced and the drive voltage is decreased. Accordingly, the light emitting efficiency is enhanced.

Plasma display panel

A plasma display panel has a front panel () and a back panel () that is arranged with a discharge space () therebetween. On the surface of the front panel facing toward the discharge space, a scan electrode () and a sustain electrode () are arranged. A dielectric layer () and a protective layer () are provided to cover the electrodes thereof and the surface. Between the scan electrode and the sustain electrode, a recessed portion () is arranged in the first panel surface. The bottom surface () of the recessed portion is arranged more inward in a thickness direction of the first substrate than the surfaces of the first electrode and the second electrode facing the discharge space whereby low power consumption, improved luminous efficiency, and a suppressed increase of firing voltage is achieved.

The present invention aims to provide a PDP apparatus and a driving method for the same which can improve display quality by reducing a peak value of a discharge current flowing in scan and sustain electrodes in a sustain period, without an increase in manufacturing cost. During each set-up period, wall charges of scan electrodes and sustain electrodes, between which sustain discharges were generated in the previous subfield, are adjusted, and parts toward the sustain electrodes of positive charges in the scan electrodes are replaced by negative charges and parts toward the scan electrodes of negative charges in the sustain electrodes are replaced by positive charges. During each address period, write pulses are applied to the scan electrodes to generate write discharges utilizing priming discharges between the scan electrodes and priming electrodes. During each sustain period, positive charges are accumulated in the entire surfaces of the scan electrodes and negative charges are accumulated in the entire surfaces of the sustain electrodes.

Plasma display apparatus and driving method thereof

A method of driving a plasma display panel having display electrode pairs each one of which pairs is formed of a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. A priming electrode is placed in every other spaces between the display electrode pairs and in parallel with the display electrode pairs. An addressing period includes an odd-line addressing period in which an address operation is conducted to primary discharge cells having odd-number scan electrodes, an even-line addressing period in which an address operation is conducted to primary discharge cells having even-number scan electrodes. During the respective addressing periods, scan pulse voltage Va is applied to odd-number scan electrodes or even-number scan electrodes while priming pulse voltage Vp is applied, prior to the application of the scan pulse voltage, to a priming electrode adjacent to the scan electrode to which scan pulse voltage Va is to be applied, in order to generate a priming discharge between the priming electrodes and the data electrodes.

The xenon component comprises at least 5 vol % and less than 100 vol %, and has a partial pressure of at least 2 kPa. Furthermore, the gap between the first and second electrodes in the PDP is greater than a height of the discharge space.

AC-type plasma display panel capable of high definition and high brightness image display, and a method of driving the same

A front substrate contains a plurality of scan electrodes and sustain electrodes. Two strips of scan electrodes and two strips of sustain electrodes are alternately disposed on the substrate. In addition, a plurality of auxiliary scan electrodes is disposed on the front substrate so as to be parallel to the scan electrodes. On the back substrate, a plurality of priming electrodes is disposed parallel to the scan electrodes. Each auxiliary scan electrode has electrical connections to the scan electrode that performs scanning earlier than the scan electrode adjacent to each auxiliary scan electrode. With the structure above, a priming discharge occurs between the auxiliary scan electrodes and the priming electrodes.

A plasma display panel to stabilize address properties. A front substrate () and a back substrate () face each other, to form a discharge space () which is partitioned by barrier ribs () to form priming discharge cells () and main discharge cells (). A dielectric layer () is formed on the back substrate () on which the priming discharge cell () is present. Insulation is ensured between a data electrode () and the priming electrode () because the latter is formed on the dielectric layer (). One is able to generate a priming discharge before a main discharge.
