A process for manufacturing a bumper reinforcement having a length, wherein the bumper reinforcement is disposed in front or rear of an automobile body with the length directed in transverse direction of the automobile body. The process includes joining a central part and lateral parts of unequal thicknesses to form a planar tailored blank. The process further includes press forming the tailored blank by hot pressing to produce a bumper reinforcement having a length and an M-shaped open cross section, the bumper reinforcement being curved at end portions of the length toward the open side of the cross section relative to a central portion.

An operating device for a vehicle includes a display, a touch operation surface set at a first predetermined position and pushable and returnable to the first predetermined position after being pushed, a coordinate detecting unit to detect a coordinate indicating a touch position of an operating finger on the touch operation surface, a push detecting unit to detect the push of the touch operation surface, and a control unit to display a cursor in a screen displayed on the display based on the coordinate detected by the coordinate detecting unit and to perform operation details of an item in the screen selected by the cursor based on the push of the touch operation surface detected by the push detecting unit. The control unit does not update the position of the cursor within a predetermined amount of time after the push detecting unit detects the push of the touch operation surface.

Operating device for vehicle

A touch-type input device includes a touch panel including drive electrodes and sensor electrodes. Capacitors are formed at intersections of the drive electrodes and sensor electrodes. A controller determines whether a conductive foreign matter exists on the touch panel from raw data values indicating changes in the capacitances of the capacitors from initial reference values. The controller determines touching of the touch panel from control data values indicating changes in the capacitances of the capacitors from control reference values changed when a conductive foreign matter exists. When the raw data values indicate existence of a conductive foreign matter, the controller sets the control reference value of each capacitor to a raw data reference value corresponding to the present raw data value. The controller updates the initial reference value when the touch-type input device is activated and updates the control reference value when the control reference value is erroneous.

Touch-type input device

A shift device that prevents an operator from unintentionally operating the shift lever. The shift device has a plurality of shift ranges and sets a predetermined range from the plurality of shift ranges. The shift device includes a shift lever for setting the predetermined shift range, a control circuit, and a notification device. The control circuit determines whether an operator has unintentionally operated the shift lever. The notification device notifies the operator that the operator has unintentionally operated the shift lever in accordance with the determination of the control circuit.

Shift device

A shift device is located on an installing portion in the passenger compartment of a vehicle for selecting the connection state of the gear train of the transmission. The shift device includes a case, manipulation body, and a first detecting member. The manipulation body is manipulated to select the connection state of the transmission. The manipulation body is arranged to be selectively projected from the case. The first detecting member detects the connection state selected by the manipulation body.
