In a motor power transmission device (), wherein rotational power of an electric motor () is input to a sun gear () of a planetary speed reducer (), and then the rotation of the sun gear () is converted to rotation of a planetary carrier (), and wherein the planetary carrier () rotatably supports planetary gears () and converts revolving motion of the planetary gears () into rotating motion, and the rotation of the planetary carrier () is then output to an output shaft (), a torque limiter mechanism () is interposed between the planetary carrier () and the output shaft (). Thus, even if excessive back torque is input to the output shaft, transmission of the back torque to the speed reducer is blocked to protect the speed reducer.

Motor power transmission device

A control apparatus for a motor-assisted bicycle detects a pedaling torque applied to a crankshaft with a pedaling force sensor, controls a motor unit in a regenerative control process to charge a battery if the torque value of the detected pedaling torque is equal to or smaller than a predetermined level, and controls the motor unit in an assistive control process if the torque value is greater than the predetermined level. The control apparatus controls the motor unit in the regenerative control process at a crankshaft angular position in which the torque value detected by the pedaling force sensor is equal to or smaller than the predetermined level, and switches from the regenerative control process to the assistive control process for controlling the motor unit at a crankshaft angular position in which the torque value detected by the pedaling force sensor becomes higher than the predetermined level.

Control apparatus for motor-assisted bicycle

A vehicle drive unit includes an axle formed of an output shaft of a motor, and a first support shaft and a second support shaft arranged at both ends of the output shaft. A stator is held on a first holding plate and a second holding plate. The second holding plate and a bearing block form a carrier of planetary gears. The second holding plate includes a bearing holding portion. The second support shaft is supported on the bearing holding portion. The first support shaft is supported on the first holding plate. The output shaft is supported at one end on the first holding plate and the other end on the bearing holding portion.
