A connector terminal which can achieve high mechanical connection strength and stabilized low electrical connection resistance when it is crimped to an aluminum electric wire, and in addition, can suppress electrical contact resistance low when it is fitted to a mating connector terminal is provided. In a connector terminal (A) having an electrical contact section () which is brought into contact and conducted with a mating connector terminal by fitting to the mating connector terminal, and a conductor crimping section () which is crimped to the conductor of an electric wire, a metal material which constitutes the terminal uses aluminum or an aluminum alloy as a base material (), a Zn layer () having a thickness in the range from 0.1 &#x3bc;m to 2.0 &#x3bc;m by electroless plating and a Cu layer () having a thickness in the range from 0.5 &#x3bc;m to 1.0 &#x3bc;m by electrolytic plating are formed in sequence on the surface of the base material (), and an Sn layer () having a thickness in the range from 0.7 &#x3bc;m to 1.7 &#x3bc;m by electrolytic plating is formed on the outermost surface.

Connector terminal

Provided is a terminal fitting capable of reliably press-bonding a core wire made of aluminum or aluminum alloy. A terminal fittingis made of copper or copper alloy and includes: a bottom wallwhich is overlapped with a core wiremade of aluminum or aluminum alloy; and a pair of crimping pieceswhich is upright from each corresponding end portion of the bottom walland is bent inward so that a front endfaces the bottom walland the pair of crimping pieces is press-bonded to the core wire. The pair of crimping piecesis bent so that outer surfacesare tightly overlapped with each other, and has a pair of intermeshing portionsrespectively formed in the outer surfacesin the length direction of the core wireto mesh with each other.

Terminal fitting

A terminal crimping apparatus includes an anvil for supporting a metal terminal including a base plate portion for placing an electric wire thereon and a pair of crimping piece portions extending upwardly respectively from opposite side edges of the base plate portion and a crimper which includes a press-deforming portion having a generally arch-shape formed of two arc-shaped surfaces which are opposed to the anvil. The anvil and the crimper cooperate to press the crimping piece portions for crimping the crimping piece portions to the electric wire placed on the metal terminal. The shape of the crimper satisfies a formula, Index a=c&#xb7;cos &#x3b8;, where c represents a length of the arc-shaped surface of the crimper, and &#x3b8; represents an angle formed by a tangential line to the arc-shaped surface at a central portion of the crimper and a vertical line.

Terminal crimping apparatus

An aluminum (Al) terminal has a first bottom wall, and a pair of caulking pieces that are stood from the first bottom wall and caulked in a state where the first bottom wall covers a wire connection portion with the core wires arranged on the upper side from the underside. Thereby, the Al terminal made of Al or Al alloy can be crimped from outside the terminal fitting main body made of copper or copper alloy, and the spring back of the terminal fitting main body made of copper or copper alloy can be suppressed by the Al terminal.

Terminal fitting having bi-metallic caulking pieces

A metal terminal includes a base plate portion for placing an electric wire thereon and a pair of crimping piece portions which extend upwardly respectively from opposite side edges of the base plate portion for press-contacting the electric wire. Each of the crimping piece portions has a distal end portion and a body portion such that a thickness of the each of crimping piece portions is tapered toward a distal end surface of the distal end portion from the body portion. A thickness of a distal end of the distal end portion relative to a board thickness T of the body portion of the each of crimping piece portions is not smaller than &#x2155;T and is less than &#xbd;T. An exterior angle of an angle formed by the distal end surface of the distal end portion and a tapered surface of the distal end portion is 60&#xb0; to 30&#xb0;.

Metal terminal

A charging connector for an electric vehicle for charging a power receiving connector coupled with a power supplying connector on a charging stand includes air purging unit provided within the power supplying connector on the side to be coupled with the power receiving connector. The air purging unit serves to purge foreign substance such as dust or moisture applied. The air purging unit of the charging connector prevents moisture or foreign substance from intruding into the inside of the supplying connector to be coupled with the power receiving connector, and if intruded, permits them to be removed swiftly, thereby preventing troubles such as poor contact of terminal and short-circuiting.

Charging connector for electric vehicle

In a charging connector for an electric vehicle for charging a power receiving connector coupled with a power supplying connector, the power supplying connector includes an outer housing to be coupled with said power receiving connector; an inner housing to be slidably mounted on the front half and housing a plurality of terminals; and an air cylinder mounted inside said outer housing inside the rear half of said outer housing and a piston connected to the rear end of said inner housing. Whereby the inner housing is driven toward said power receiving connector by the operation of said air cylinder so that said terminals are connected to corresponding terminals of said power receiving connector. In such a configuration, since the advancing drive of an inner housing in which terminals are housed is carried out using the air cylinder, a small number of components can be used and the piston has only to be connected to the rear end of the inner housing, thus simplifying the production cost and reducing the production cost.

A joining structure for a box-shaped portion of a terminal lug used in electric wiring. One of the walls constituting the box-shaped portion is at the end provided with a locking claw, and the other wall is at the corresponding end provided with a locking hole into which the locking claw is fitted to join the walls to each other. The joining structure for the box-shaped portion of a terminal lug realizes a joint of high strength, enables a terminal lug to become small in size and light in weight, and is reliable.
