An expansion tank, includes: a tank main body defining a storage chamber storing a coolant liquid therein; multiple partition walls provided in the tank main body to divide the storage chamber into multiple division chambers including an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber, the partition walls being formed with communication holes for bringing adjacent ones of the division chambers into communication with each other; a coolant liquid inlet portion that is provided on the tank main body and is open to the inlet chamber; a coolant liquid outlet portion that has an outlet opening in a depression formed in a bottom of the tank main body and is open to the outlet chamber; and a barrier wall extending from a side wall of the tank main body or one of the partition walls into the depression.

Expansion tank

An internal combustion engine, includes: a cylinder block; a crankshaft rotatably supported in the cylinder block; an oil pan fastened to a lower end portion of the cylinder block; a chain case fastened to one end wall of the cylinder block in an axial direction of the crankshaft; a belt wound around a crank pulley provided on an end portion of the crankshaft protruding from the chain case and an accessory pulley provided on an engine accessory; and a tensioner contacting a back surface of the belt and applying a tension to the belt, wherein the tensioner includes multiple fastening portions, such that one of the fastening portions is fastened to at least one of the cylinder block and the chain case, and another one of the fastening portions is fastened to the oil pan.

Cooling apparatus for hybrid vehicle

In an auxiliary-driving system in an engine, a crank pulley, a first auxiliary pulley and an idler pulley having a tensioner function are disposed in a triangular configuration with the idler pulley located in an uppermost position; and a second auxiliary pulley is disposed in a space surrounded by these pulleys. An endless transmitting belt is reeved around the pulleys. An inner surface of the transmitting belt is reeved around the first auxiliary pulley; and an outer surface of the transmitting belt is reeved around the second auxiliary pulley. Thus, the adjustment of the tension of the transmitting belt and other maintenance are facilitated, the transmitting efficiency of the transmitting belt can be enhanced, and compactness of the auxiliary-driving system itself and improvement in mileage can be achieved.

An engine cooling water passage structure includes a cooling water passage unit that is formed by integrating a water pump for supplying cooling water, a thermostat housing for housing a thermostat, a gas/liquid separation chamber for separating air from the cooling water, cooling water supply passages for supplying to water jackets, via the thermostat housing and the water pump, the cooling water that has been returned from a radiator, cooling water discharge passage for discharging into the radiator the cooling water that has passed through the water jackets, and a bypass passage for returning to the thermostat housing the cooling water that has passed through the water jackets, while bypassing the radiator. This cooling water passage unit is detachably mounted as a unit on an engine main body. Thus, the arrangement allows the engine cooling system to be made compact.

An auxiliary equipment bracket is formed into a substantially U-shaped configuration having a pair of stays which face each other with a support portion of an engine main body and a supported portion of auxiliary equipment being interposed therebetween and a connecting body which connects the two stays together, and formed in each of the respective stays are a first bolt passing hole for allowing a tightening bolt to pass through the support portion between the respective stays and a second bolt passing hole for allowing a tightening bolt to pass through the supported portion between the respective stays.

Engine auxiliary equipment mounting construction

A fuel injection control system for an internal combustion engine equipped with a heater for heating an air-fuel mixture in cold engine start. In the system, the timing to cease injection is first obtained by the coolant temperature and the engine load. The value is then deferred by an amount if the heater is turned on. The amount increases as the heater on-time increases. Then an injection period is added to the timing to cease injection and another timing to commence injection is determined. Thus, the injection timing is deferred if an air-fuel mixture is heated so as to minimize the residence time of the heated fuel. This ensures that the fuel will be quickly drawn to the cylinder to be burnt completely and the composition of the gas is thus improved.
