A knee protection airbag device is provided with an airbag, an inflator, an airbag cover, and an attachment base to be connected to a vehicle body side member. The airbag cover includes a door portion that allows forming of a protrusion-permitting opening when pushed by the airbag that inflates, a door disposition wall portion that covers a lower portion of the airbag in a folded state, and connecting wall portions that extend upward from front and rear edges of the door disposition wall portion and that are connected to the attachment base. The airbag cover defines an accommodating recess capable of accommodating the airbag that is formed by bending a portion of the recessed grooves for bending that are formed by performing press working on a sheet member made of a non-woven fabric.

Knee protection airbag device

A knee protection airbag device includes: an airbag that is folded and stored; an inflator configured to supply inflation gas to the airbag; a case that stores the airbag and the inflator; and an airbag cover covering the folded airbag. The airbag cover includes a door portion that covers a protruding opening and can be opened when the airbag is deployed and inflated, and is attached to a peripheral wall portion of the case around the door portion. A recessed groove through which a harness main body can be inserted is formed at a portion of a peripheral edge of the protruding opening in the case so as to recess an end edge of the peripheral wall portion. A bead for reinforcement at a peripheral edge portion of the recessed groove is formed on the peripheral wall portion so as to surround a periphery of the recessed groove.

An airbag device includes an airbag, an inflator and an attachment base. The airbag includes a body portion, and an inflow port portion, into which the distal end side of the inflator is inserted. The attachment base includes a holding plate portion including a pressing portion and a support portion that are provided at positions displaced around an axial center of the inflator so as to surround a periphery of the inflow port portion into which the distal end side of the inflator is inserted. The pressing portion is plastically deformable so as to approach a side of the support portion by being crimped, and the distal end side of the inflator inserted between the pressing portion and the support portion and the inflow port portion are sandwiched between the crimped pressing portion and the support portion, and are held by the attachment base.

Airbag device

An air bag includes an air bag main body and a guide member. The air bag main body includes an expansion portion that expands with expansion gas flowing from an inflator and a tubular connecting port, which is connected to the inflator by inserting a side of a gas outlet port of the inflator thereinto, to cause the expansion gas to flow into the expansion portion, and is formed of a sheet material with flexibility so as to be able to be folded. The guide member has a shape holding property of maintaining an opening state of the connecting port so as to be able to be attached to the connecting port of the air bag main body and guide the insertion of the inflator into the side of the gas outlet port.

Airbag

A head protecting airbag device includes: an airbag configured to cover a window of a vehicle; a winding band wound around a folded body which is formed by folding the airbag, the winding band including: an attachment portion being pressed and locked to an attachment target portion; a band body wound around the folded body; an engaging claw portion formed at one end of the band body; and an engaging target portion disposed at the other end of the band body; and a pressing portion, having a pressing operation surface configured to press-fit the engaging claw portion into an engaging concave portion, disposed at a claw-side end of the band body, wherein the attachment portion is disposed at a concave-side end of the band body so that the press-fit direction to the attachment target portion at the time of locking is substantially perpendicular to the pressing operation surface.

Head protecting airbag device

A head protection airbag apparatus includes an airbag which is configured so that an attaching portion arranged on an upper edge thereof upon completion of inflation is attached to a body of the vehicle using an attaching clip. The attaching portion includes an attaching hole to which the attaching clip is insertable. The attaching clip includes an attaching leg. The attaching leg includes an insertion shaft portion adapted to be inserted in the locking hole and at least a pair of locking claws. The attaching hole is configured so that, when the attaching leg is inserted through the attaching hole, an peripheral edge portion of the attaching hole is pressed against an outer peripheral surface side on a region of the insertion shaft portion which is located more toward the base portion than the locking claws.

Head protection airbag apparatus

In a head protection airbag device according to the invention, non-inflating portions of an airbag includes a blocking portion which covers the vehicle interior side of windows when inflation of the airbag is completed. One blocking portion includes a downward movement inhibiting portion catching a passenger's head and inhibiting its downward movement when the head moves downward while moving toward the vehicle exterior and touches the blocking portion when inflation of the airbag is completed. The blocking portion comprises overlapping vehicle interior side and the vehicle exterior side portions which are mutually connected, with a portion of a vehicle interior member by the upper edge made to be the downward movement inhibiting portion. The downward movement inhibiting portion is connected at both the front and rear edges to the vehicle exterior member of the blocking portion, allowing the upper edge of the downward movement inhibiting portion to be a catching edge which can be separated from the vehicle exterior member when catching the head.

Head protection airbag device

A vehicle includes an air bag device for an occupant seated in a rearmost seat. The air bag device includes an air bag, which is accommodated at the rear end portion of the roof of the vehicle in a folded state, and an inflator, which supplies gas to the air bag. The air bag is unfolded downward to be inflated between the rearmost seat and a rear window glass. The air bag device has several functions to effectively protect an occupant seated in the rearmost seat, such as a function to apply a predetermined tension to the inflated air bag, a function to properly restrict the thickness of the air bag, and a function to properly control the unfolding direction of the air bag.

Air bag device for rear-end collision mounted on vehicle

In an airbag device of the invention, by making use of a retainer which is made up of a retaining part which is provided on an outside of an inflator and bolt parts, an airbag and the inflator are fixed to a fixing wall portion of a case by fastening nuts onto the bolt parts which are caused to protrude from the fixing wall portion of the case in such a state the retaining part is housed within the airbag. A support projection is formed on the fixing wall portion in such a manner as to protrude therefrom toward the inflator side. When the nuts are fastened, the retainer moves the retaining part toward the fixing wall portion side, so that the inflator is held between and retained by abutment portions formed on the retaining part and the support projection.

The head-protecting airbag apparatus is mounted on a vehicle whose third-row seat is so put away as to stand proximate to the inner side of a window. The airbag has three shielding portions, and includes a dividing recess between the third shielding portion and second shielding portion. In the event that the third shielding portion engages the folded seat during the course of airbag deployment, the dividing recess separates the lower edge of a region between the second shielding portion and the third shielding portion, so that the second shielding portion is not hindered from smooth development.

Head-protecting airbag apparatus

The knee-protecting airbag device includes an airbag that protrudes rearward from a housing and deploys upward when fed with inflation gas. The airbag includes an upstream part located toward lower end of the completely inflated airbag and located upstream of inflation gas, and a downstream part located toward upper end of the completely inflated airbag and located downstream of inflation gas. The downstream part is adapted to protect an area from shins to knees of an occupant when the airbag is completely inflated. In the course of airbag inflation, internal pressure of a shin-protecting area, which is part of the downstream part for protecting shins, peaks 5 to 15 ms later than a peak time of internal pressure of the upstream part.

Knee-protecting airbag device

The knee protecting airbag device is assembled such that a retainer and an attachment bracket clamp the peripheral portion of a gas inlet opening of an airbag, bag holding wall parts of a case, and a gas providing inflator. This inflator is provided with a diffuser for covering the gas discharge port of a body. The retainer and the attachment bracket are connected by inserting bolts and connecting members through the airbag and the case, by retaining retaining portions on the retaining portions of the connecting members, and by inserting the bolts into through holes and fastening them with nuts. At this connecting time, guide portions of the retainer and the diffuser are fitted on each other to form a guide passage for guiding the gas into the airbag.

Knee protecting airbag device

Occupant protecting device and air bag device for rear-end collision mounted on vehicle

A knee protection airbag apparatus of this invention has an airbag having a construction in which folded and accommodated below the area in front of the knees of a passenger who is seated, and inflates upward toward the rear of the vehicle so as to be capable of protecting the knees of the passenger, when an inflating gas is inserted. The airbag includes a knee protection inflation portion which is disposed on the upper side of the airbag after completion of inflation and which is capable of protecting both knees of the passenger, and a shin facing portion disposed below the knee protection inflation portion after completion of inflation, in an area extending substantially vertically so as to be at the position of both shins of the passenger. Gas flow paths are disposed within both right and left edge sides of the airbag and can cause the inflating gas flowing at the lower part of the airbag to flow towards the knee protection inflation portion while inhibiting the shin facing portion from greatly inflating in the initial stage of inflation of the airbag.

Knee protection airbag apparatus

An air bag mounted in an automotive steering wheel and having a bag body and flow regulation fabric mounted within the bag body. The bag body includes a front panel and a rear panel and is a horizontally symmetrical, planar bag body. The front panel is provided with a gas inlet port. The flow regulation fabric branches from the gas inlet port into radially extending right and left passages that run to the outer fringes of the bag body. Circumferentially extending passages of the flow regulation fabric extend from the front ends of the radially extending passages along the fringes of the bag body vertically, and are each provided with upper and lower opening ends at which gas can be ejected toward the vertical centerline of the bag body. Upon expansion, the air bag quickly enters between the occupant's abdomen and the rim of the steering wheel.
