A motor-vehicle door latch device includes an engagement mechanism including a latch and a ratchet, a base plate fixed to a body housing the engagement mechanism, a casing fixed to the base plate such that a first side surface faces a side surface on a vehicle-exterior side of the base plate, a releasing mechanism including a releasing lever, a locking/unlocking mechanism enabling the ratchet to disengage from the latch and vice versa, an electric mechanism including a locking/unlocking motor and a releasing motor, and a closure mechanism rotating the latch from a half-latched position to a fully-latched position, wherein all members forming the releasing mechanism, the locking/unlocking mechanism, and the electric mechanism are arranged on a second side surface opposite the first side surface of the casing, and all members forming the closure mechanism are arranged between the first side surface of the casing and the base plate.

The lock mechanism, the power releaser, and the canceler are disposed in the fully closed latch mechanism. The relay control mechanism includes a handle lever configured to, when a door opening operation is performed on the inner handle, rotate in a first direction to unlatch the fully closed latch mechanism and activate the cancel mechanism, and when a door closing operation is performed on the inner handle, rotate in a second direction to unlatch the fully opened latch mechanism. A lock device includes: a body having a striker insertion groove into which a striker is inserted; a hook lever shaft mounted to the body; and a hook lever rotatably mounted to the body via the hook lever shaft, and that moves to an engagement position where the hook lever is engaged with the striker inserted into the striker insertion groove, and that moves to a release position where the engagement with the striker is released. The lock device is rotatably supported by a support member so as to change an opening position of the striker insertion groove. A seat lock device includes an engagement portion engaged with a vehicle body member extending in a vehicle width direction on a rear side of a front wall of a rear parcel shelf. The rear parcel shelf forms an upper wall of a trunk room arranged on a rear side of a vehicle. The seat lock device is attached to the front wall of the rear parcel shelf, engaged with a striker provided to a rear face of a seat arranged in front of the trunk room to hold the seat in an erect posture, and releases an engagement state thereof with the striker by a release operation of a release operation member arranged in the trunk room.

A seat lock apparatus includes a case member having a striker entrance groove and a hook lever that is provided rotatably via a hook shaft and is movable between an opening position and a restraining position where the hook lever closes an opening in a striker entrance groove.
