An energy-storing unit with a forcing mechanism and an on-load tap changing device provided with the same which employ an inexpensive and simple structure and which can suppress a loading torque to operate stably. A forcing mechanism built in an energy-storing unit includes a protrusion, a bearing, and a loading cam. Among those components, the protrusion is attached to the bottom face of an eccentric cam, and the bearing is attached to the tip of the protrusion. The loading cam is an isosceles triangle having a vertex that is substantially 90 degrees, and is attached to the top face of an energy-storing case. The loading cam becoming in contact with the bearing causes a crank to rotate through the energy-storing case, and feeds a catch to a standby position.

An optical disk device of the present invention has a main PC board carrying a semiconductor element and attached at the rear of a drawer to efficiently dissipate a heat generated from the semiconductor element. The drawer is formed of a material having good thermal conductivity. A thermal conductive member having good thermal conductivity is interposed between the IC desired to be dissipate heat and the drawer.

An optical disk apparatus includes a main chassis and a sub-chassis provided on a drawer, and has a skew adjusting mechanism of the main chassis and the sub-chassis which is skew-adjusted with reference to a rotational axis in tangential direction X, which is parallel to a spot trajectory L of an optical pickup and located in the vicinity of the spot trajectory L, and a rotational axis in radial direction Xperpendicular to the rotational axis in tangential direction X. This enables the skew adjustment in which a change in height of the optical pickup is small during the adjustment and distortion is small.

A cassette setting device wherein first and second cassette housing sections in which tape cassettes are housed flat are arranged in a tray, which is carried to a position to enable the tape cassette in one of the first and second cassette housing sections to be set at a tape drive section and which is then reversely carried to another position, while keeping the tape cassette in the one cassette housing section set at the tape drive section, to enable the tape cassette in the other to be picked up and exchanged with a new one.

A tray unit is moved into a housing or partially pulled out from the housing by a horizontal motor provided in the housing. Since the tray unit can load a plurality of cassettes, the weight of the unit is largely changed in accordance with the number of loaded cassettes. The horizontal motor must be controlled by accurately detecting the moving position of the tray unit. The rotation of the horizontal motor is transmitted to a rotary member. The rotation of the rotary member is associated with a pulse detecting element provided on a printed circuit board for tray position detection. The moving position of the tray unit is detected by counting pulses obtained from the pulse detecting element in accordance with the rotation of the rotary member.

Apparatus capable of loading a plurality of cassettes

One end portion of a lug detecting lever or cassette detecting lever is arranged at the position of a safety lug of a cassette loaded on a tray unit or at the position of the cassette. The pivotal position of the other end portion of this detecting lever is varied in accordance with the presence/absence of a safety lug or a cassette. During insertion of the tray unit into a housing, a shutter mechanism is rendered operative or inoperative in accordance with the pivotal position of said detecting lever. The shutter mechanism is associated with a tape end detecting element. Upon receiving a detection signal from this tape end detecting element, a controller can determine the presence/absence of a safety lug or a cassette.
