A display device comprises an organic EL substrate including an organic EL layer formed on a flexible substrate and a first main surface of the flexible substrate; a film covering a display region of the organic EL substrate; and a terminal region arranged at an end portion of the organic EL substrate, and arranged adjacent to and apart from an end portion of the film. A flexible display includes a display region and a peripheral region. A first reinforcement film is located on the display region of the flexible display and a second reinforcement film is located on the peripheral region of the flexible display. A semiconductor circuit chip is located on the peripheral region and a flexible board is located on the peripheral region. A side end portion of the first reinforcement film is in contact with a first side end portion of the second reinforcement film and a second side end portion of the second reinforcement film is in contact with one side of the semiconductor circuit chip. A third side end portion of the second reinforcement film is in contact with another side of the semiconductor circuit chip and the second reinforcement film is continuously formed from the first side end portion to the second side end portion.

Display device having a structure to prevent damage to a bent portion of a flexible display

A display device includes: a spacer; a flexible substrate having flexibility, the flexible substrate being provided with a display area for performing image display, a picture-frame area, a bent area, and a terminal area including a terminal, the display area, the picture-frame area, the bent area, and the terminal area being arranged in this order, the terminal area being disposed on a rear surface side of the spacer due to the bent area being bent so as to follow the shape of the spacer; and a reinforcing film including a first reinforcing portion attached to the rear surface side of the display area, a second reinforcing portion attached to a display surface side of the terminal area, and a bent reinforcing portion attached to an inner surface side of the bent area at a portion in a width direction of the flexible substrate.

Provided is a display device including: a base material; a display region over the base material; a wiring over the base material, the wiring extending from the display region to an outside of the display region; and a pair of metal films over the base material, where the wiring is located between the pair of metal films in a plane view. The display region may be positioned between the pair of metal films, and the wiring and the pair of metal films may exist in the same layer.

A display device in an embodiment according to the present invention includes a display region arranged above a flexible substrate, the display region including a first display region and a second display region continuing from the first display region, at least the second display region including a curved surface. The second display region is located at a position where an image displayed in the second display region is not seen directly when viewing the first display region from a perpendicular direction with respect to a center part of the first display region.

In the step of disposing the spacer, viewed from the back surface side of the flexible substrate, the spacer is positioned on the back reinforcing film based on a position of the notch and a position of the first alignment mark.

To provide a display device including a spacer, a flexible substrate having a wire extending from a terminal area to a display area, and a reinforcement film having a first reinforcement attached on the rear side of the display area, a second reinforcement attached on the display side of the terminal area, a bending reinforcement attached on the respective both edge portions in the width direction of the flexible substrate on the inside surface side of the bending area, and an opening surrounded by the first reinforcement, the second reinforcement, and the bending reinforcement, wherein the opening has a shape of which width becomes larger as it goes from respective end sides to center in the width direction of the reinforcement film.

A flexible display is bent in an intermediate region such that a first region and a second region overlap each other. A spacer is disposed inside a bend of the flexible display. The spacer includes a front-side region overlapping the first region, a back-side region overlapping the second region, and a guide region overlapping the intermediate region and regulating the bend. The spacer includes, in the front-side region, a first step and a first bottom surface recessed below the guide region. The spacer includes, in the back-side region, a second step and a second bottom surface recessed below the guide region. An interval between a second reinforcing film and a second raised surface located at the second step is larger than an interval between a first reinforcing film and a first raised surface located at the first step.

A display device includes a protective film attached to a display surface as a surface of at least one of a first insulating substrate and a second insulating substrate, and an adhesive material attaching the protective film to the display surface. The display surface includes a display area in which an image is displayed, and a peripheral area surrounding the display area. The adhesive material includes a first adhesive portion and a second adhesive portion. The first adhesive portion is in the peripheral area, and discontinuously surrounds the display area with a disconnected portion. The second adhesive portion is provided in the peripheral area inside or outside the first adhesive portion and the disconnected portion with a gap between the second adhesive portion, and the first adhesive portion and the disconnected portion, so as to be next to the disconnected portion over the entire length thereof.
