Inkjet recording apparatus and method for cleaning carriage

A printer includes a set cover pivotally movably provided on a carriage. The cover can be set in a closed state in which the cover presses a head of the cartridge housed in the housing portion and an open state in which the cover opens the housing portion when the cartridge is replaced. A release lever is subjected to a bias force so as to protrude from an inner wall surface of the housing portion. The release lever is movable against the bias force. The release lever comes into contact with an end of the cartridge which faces the bottom surface when the cartridge is inserted into the housing portion. The release lever contacts the rear surface of the cartridge housed in the housing portion. The bias force is stronger when the cover is in the open state than when the cover is in the closed state.

To achieve high conveying accuracy by reducing back tension on a recording medium being conveyed. A feeding device includes a pressure plate on which recording media are loaded; feeding means for feeding the recording media; a regulating member configured to regulate a position of a side edge of the recording media; supporting means for supporting the regulating member, the supporting means having a bottom portion on which the recording media are partially loaded; and moving means for separating the regulating member from the side edge of the recording media. The feeding means starts to feed the recording medium while the position of the side edge of the recording media is being regulated by the regulating member, and the moving means separates the regulating member from the side edge of the recording media after a conveying means starts to convey the recording medium fed by the feeding means.

Feeding device and recording apparatus

A first conveying mechanism includes an intermediate conveying roller for conveying a recording sheet, an intermediate conveying roller shaft for supporting the intermediate conveying roller, an intermediate conveying roller drive mechanism for rotationally driving the intermediate conveying roller shaft, and a roller control mechanism for controlling movements of the intermediate conveying roller relative to the intermediate conveying roller shaft. The roller control mechanism performs skew correction along with conveying the recording sheet by rotating the intermediate conveying roller integrally with the intermediate conveying roller shaft while the intermediate conveying roller drive mechanism rotationally drives the intermediate conveying roller shaft and stops the rotational drive of the intermediate conveying roller shaft performed by the intermediate conveying roller drive mechanism after the skew correction to cause the intermediate conveying roller to be movable within a predetermined range in the axial direction of the intermediate conveying roller shaft.

Sheet conveying apparatus and image forming apparatus

An image reading and recording apparatus has: a carriage for mounting a recording head; a reading unit which reads an original document; a conveying roller arranged on a conveying path which is used in common for recording paper and the original; and a platen arranged so as to face the recording head. The reading unit is movable between a reading position on an upper side of the conveying path and a retracting position on a lower side of the conveying path. The platen can relatively and independently move for the reading unit.

Image reading and recording apparatus

An image reading and recording apparatus includes a trigger arm configured to start transmission of a drive to a paper feed unit in accordance with the position of a carriage. A sheet feeding device includes a guiding member having an upper guiding surface for guiding the upper surface of a document and a lower guiding surface for guiding the lower surface of the document to guide the document to a support portion. The guiding member is movable to a set position for guiding the document to the support portion without causing the document to come into contact with a feeding roller, a recording-sheet separation position withdrawn for separating one sheet from the other recording sheets and feeding the separated sheet, a document separation position for guiding the document to the feeding roller, and a sheet return position for returning the recording sheet or the document to a corresponding support portion using a return lever. The guiding member is held via a spring such that the guiding member can be returned by itself from the sheet return position to the set position.

Sheet feeding device

There is disclosed an image reading device, comprises a stacking section for stacking a document, a reading section for reading an image of the document, a separating section for separating the document stacked on the stacking section sheet by sheet, a conveying section for conveying the document separated by the separating section to the reading section and a discharging section for discharging the document to the outside of the device. In the device, sheet separating performance is enhanced. Additionally, the device body is reduced in cost and size, excellent reading operation can constantly be realized, and device assembling property is enhanced.

Image reading device

There is disclosed an image reading device, comprises a reading section detachably attached to a device body for reading an image of document by manual scanning when detached from the device body, a recording section for recording the image on a sheet, a document conveying path for conveying the document to the reading section and a sheet conveying path for conveying the sheet to the recording section. The conveying directions of the document and the sheet are set to be the same, and the sheet conveying path is disposed below the document conveying path. Similar paper handling can be performed on the document and the sheet, defects such as the mistaking of the discharge port of the document for that of the sheet and the difficulty in handling the document and sheet are eliminated, and the operating property of the device is enhanced. Additionally, the reading section can easily be detached from the device body.

An image processor includes a first image information processing unit which processes image information with respect to a sheet medium. A first sheet medium feeding path guides the sheet medium to the first image information processing unit, and exhausts the sheet medium from the first image information processing unit. A second image information processing unit processes image information with respect to a sheet medium while allowing a head for processing image information to travel serially. The second information processing unit is arranged on a side lower than the first image information processing unit. A second sheet medium feeding path guides the sheet medium to the second image information processing unit, and exhausts the sheet medium from the second image information processing unit. An electric circuit board is arranged below the feeding path of the first sheet medium, and above the feeding path of the second sheet medium. The electric circuit board is arrange on the reverse side of the head for processing image information. In this way, the number of boards and harnesses are reduced, thus reducing cost, and enhancing assembling capability and reliability.

Apparatus for processing image information

A printer that performs high-precision residual-ink detection regardless of various movements accompanying print operation and facsimile apparatus using the printer. When an ink cartridge reciprocates along a main-scanning direction, ink surface of ink 91 varies depending on a moving direction and moving condition (stationary state, uniform motion, accelerated motion and decelerated motion) of the ink cartridge. Accordingly, the residual-ink detection is controlled such that a residual-ink amount can be detected by using photosensor 11 and reflection board 93, at the same detection timing (e.g., always at timing of uniform motion).
