A secondary battery electrode binder that exhibits superior binding capacity. The present invention also provides a secondary battery electrode mixture layer composition, a secondary battery electrode, and a secondary battery that are obtained using the binder. The present invention relates to a secondary battery electrode binder that contains a carboxyl-group-containing polymer or a salt of a carboxyl-group-containing polymer. The carboxyl-group-containing polymer or salt of a carboxyl-group-containing polymer includes structural units that are derived from monomers that are represented by general formula (1) and structural units that are derived from ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomers that are different from general formula (1). The structural units derived from monomers that are represented by general formula (1) are 0.1-20 mass % of the total structural units of the carboxyl-group-containing polymer or salt of a carboxyl-group-containing polymer.

Secondary battery electrode binder, secondary battery electrode mixture layer composition, secondary battery electrode and secondary battery

A binder for secondary battery electrodes, which enables the achievement of a secondary battery electrode that has higher binding properties than ever before contains a block polymer that has a polymer block (A) and a polymer block (B), and it is configured such that: the polymer block (A) includes less than 30% by mass of a structural unit derived from (meth)acrylic acid to a total structural units of the polymer block (A); and the polymer block (B) includes 30 mass % or more and 100 mass % or less of a structural unit derived from (meth)acrylic acid to a total structural units of the polymer block (B).

Binder for a secondary battery electrode and use thereof

A binder is for a secondary battery electrode and exhibits high binding properties in an electrode mixture layer and is capable of exhibiting superior cycle characteristics than before. This binder for a secondary battery electrode includes a cross-linked polymer or salt thereof, and the cross-linked polymer or salt thereof has a sol fraction of 5.0 mass % or more and 40 mass % or less. Binder for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery electrode, manufacturing method therefor and use therefor

An electrode mixture layer composition for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery contains an active material, water and a binder. The binder contains a crosslinked polymer of a monomer component including an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, and a salt thereof. The crosslinked polymer is a polymer that is crosslinked with allyl methacrylate, and an amount of the allyl methacrylate used is 0.1 to 2.0 parts by weight relative to total 100 parts by weight of non-crosslinking monomers, and a content of the crosslinked polymer and salt thereof is 0.5% to 5.0% by weight of the active material.
