A guidewire suppresses an increase in operating resistance during pushing and pulling within a blood vessel that is extremely crooked and secures sufficient operability. The guidewire includes a core shaft and a coil body wound around the core shaft. The core shaft includes a first shaft portion positioned inside the coil body and a second shaft portion positioned proximally from the coil body. A twisted portion that is twisted along a longitudinal axis of the core shaft is provided in at least part of the second shaft portion.

Guidewire

A shaft suppresses a permanent set, or plastic deformation, even when inserted into an extremely winding blood vessel. A guidewire incorporates the above shaft. The shaft is twisted along its longitudinal axis and has a cross section forming a substantially rectangular shape extending in a first direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The cross section has at least one arcuate recess.

Shaft and guidewire employing the same

A shaft suppresses a rise in operation resistance as it is pushed and pulled even inside an extremely winding blood vessel and thus secures sufficient torque transmission characteristics and operability. A guidewire may employ the above-described shaft. The shaft is twisted along its longitudinal axis and has a cross section that forms a substantially rectangular shape in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Moreover, the cross section of the shaft has a projection that projects arcuately.

Provided is a guidewire including a core shaft, an outer flexible tube, a stranded wire that extends parallel to the core shaft, and a hollow stranded-wire coil disposed in the outer flexible tube. The hollow stranded-wire coil is formed of multiple strands and surrounds the distal end portion of the core shaft and the stranded wire. Distal ends of the hollow stranded-wire coil, the core shaft, and the stranded wire are joined to a distal end of the outer flexible tube.

Medical guidewire

Provided is a guidewire including a core shaft, an outer flexible tube, and an inner flexible tube that surrounds a distal end portion of the core shaft. The inner flexible tube is disposed in the outer flexible tube so that a distal end thereof is positioned between the distal end of the core shaft and a proximal end of the core shaft so as to be separated from the core shaft. A first joint is formed so as to join the distal end of the inner flexible tube to the core shaft. At least one second joint is formed so as to join the outer flexible tube to the inner flexible tube. The at least one second joint is positioned between the first joint and the proximal end of the core shaft.

Provided is a guidewire including a core shaft, an outer flexible tube, a stranded wire that is disposed parallel to a distal end portion of the core shaft, and an inner flexible tube that surrounds a distal end portion of the core shaft and the stranded wire. The inner flexible tube is disposed in the outer flexible tube so that a distal end thereof is positioned between the distal ends of the core shaft and the stranded wire and a proximal end of the core shaft so as to be separated from the distal ends of the core shaft and the stranded wire. A joint is formed so as to join the distal end of the inner flexible tube, the core shaft, and the stranded wire to each other.

In a medical equipment, a hollow shaft body is made of single-wound or plurally-wound coil line elements, and has a cylindrical tip portion formed on a distal end of the hollow shaft body, and a manipulative grip connected to a proximal side portion of the hollow shaft. At least one of an inner surface mid an outer surface of the hollow shaft, and at least one of an inner surface and outer surface of the tip portion are provided with a screw-like concave-convex streak of projection. The hollow shaft body has a diameter-reduced portion at the manipulative grip having a transparent portion, through which the diameter reduced portion is visible from outside.

Vascular catheter

A guidewire includes a core shaft, and a coiled body wound around the outer circumferential surface of the core shaft. A bulged portion is provided at the tip portion of the core shaft. The front end of the coiled body is bonded to the front end of the core shaft with a bonding portion. The bonding portion is provided to enclose the bulged portion provided at the tip portion of the core shaft.

In a medical guide wire () formed by a helical hollow wire body which is arranged to retractably move against a needle tip (), the helical hollow wire body is formed into a wire-stranded helical hollow tube () by stranding a multitude of wire coil elements (). The wire coil elements () of a wire-stranded helical hollow tube () has a stranding angle (&#x3b8;) of 55 degrees or less against an axial direction of the wire-stranded helical hollow tube (), and having an angle more than plus 2 degrees or an angle less than minus 2 degrees against a knife edge angle (&#x3b8;) of the needle tip (), thus preventing the wire coil elements () from inadvertently hitched in the needle tip (), and thereby enabling manipulators to a smooth insertion and pull operation so as to improve a curability when the wire-stranded helical hollow tube () is retractably manipulated against the needle tip ().

Medical guide wire

In a wire-stranded hollow tube (), a plurality of metallic wires () preformed with a predetermined forming rate are twisted along a circular line into a careless hollow configuration. When twisting the metallic wires (), the neighboring metallic elements () are subjected to compression with no gap between the neighboring metallic elements (). This increases a contact pressure between the neighboring metallic elements () to attain a good tightness with a good circularity and diametrical uniformity secured therebetween, thus preventing the wire-stranded hollow tube () from inadvertently collapsing. A tightness is strengthened between the neighboring metallic elements () when the metallic elements () of different helical pitch are used. By applying the wire-stranded hollow tube () to a medical guide wire, a quick torque response and a good torque transmissibility are ensured which lead to a good manipulatability with a favorable follow-on capability.

A core wire of a guide wire has a plurality of twisted thin threads, a distal end of the core wire being diametrically reduced to be a thinnest tip, which has twisted ends united together. A resin layer is coated on the outer surface of the core wire. The thinnest tip of the leading end of the core wire is squelched into a flat-shaped configuration so as to form a flat portion. The flat portion is shaped into a multiple-stepped structure in which the thickness of the flat portion is progressively reduced by three steps or more in approaching the distal end of the core wire.
