A torque is transmitted between a fluid pressure pump driven together with drive of a vehicle, and a fluid pressure motor that rotates together with driven wheels. The fluid pressure motor has two ports, and rotates in accordance with the direction of fluid supply to the ports. Fluid is circulated from one port to the other according to the input of rotation torque from the driven wheels. A high pressure flowpath connected to the pump outlet, and a low pressure flowpath connected to the pump inlet, are connected to these ports, and the connection direction is reversed when the rotation direction of the drive wheels is reversed. The low pressure flowpath is therefore always at low pressure regardless of the rotation direction of the drive wheels, and by controlling the pump supply flowrate so as not to exceed a predetermined value, torque is not transmitted when the vehicle is running at high speed.

A brake control system for automotive vehicles, comprises a master cylinder, a wheel cylinder, an external hydraulic pressure source for generating an external hydraulic pressure, an electronically controlled hydraulic pressure control valve connected to the external hydraulic pressure source, for converting the external hydraulic pressure to a control pressure, a hydraulic pressure multiplier unit connected to the hydraulic pressure control valve for generating a wheel-cylinder pressure higher than the master-cylinder pressure by multiplying the control pressure, and a spool biasing force restricting mechanism for restricting the magnitude of a spool biasing force created by the master-cylinder pressure to a designated upper limit only when the master-cylinder pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure level sufficient to provide a maximum wheel-cylinder pressure.

Brake control system for automotive vehicles

A pressure control valve for adjusting a controlled pressure supplied to an actuator includes first and second valves. The first valve serves to modify a pressure level of a working fluid supplied from a fluid pressure source to a preselected level and provides it to the actuator. The second valve is responsive to a control signal commanding elevation or reduction in the controlled pressure from a controller to adjust a supply pressure level from the fluid pressure source to provide a pilot pressure, elevated or reduced to a preselected level, to the first valve for activating same. When elevating or reducing the pilot pressure, the second valve decreases the supply pressure level from the fluid pressure source by a preselected degree, for balancing a flow gain when elevating the pilot pressure with that when reducing the pilot pressure, for providing uniform response for elevation and reduction of the controlled pressure to the actuator.

Pressure control valve for active suspension control system

A brake control system for an automotive vehicle has an improved hydraulic circuit network which is capable of performing pressure boosting operation for a pressure supplied from a master cylinder, as well as anti-skid brake control operation and traction control operation. The system includes a valve device for selectively establishing and blocking fluid communication between master cylinder and wheel cylinder. The valve device is generally responsive to the fluid pressure supplied from the master cylinder to enter into pressure boosting mode in response to increase in the fluid pressure from the master cylinder across a predetermined value. An electronically operable boost control device cooperates with the valve device for varying pressure boosting magnitude depending upon vehicle driving condition. An electronically operable traction control device is also provided and cooperates with the boost control device for generating a braking force to decelerate a vehicle wheel irrespectively of manual operation state of brake system when wheel spinning is detected or predicted. The system exhibits high safety level by an enhanced fail-safe function.

A surgical operation device comprising an ultrasonic piezoelectric transducer for generating ultrasonic vibrations, an oscillation feedback type oscillator for supplying high-frequency power to the ultrasonic transducer, a vibration transmitter connected to the ultrasonic transducer for transmitting and amplifying mechanical vibrations at an ultrasonic frequency, a suction unit and an irrigator. The ultrasonic transducer includes a bolted Langevin type transducer. The feedback circuit of the oscillation feedback type oscillator includes an oscillation voltage detector, a phase comparator, a low pass filter, a differential amplifier, and a voltage controlled oscillator. Thus, the mechanical resonant frequency can be traced in a wide range of fluctuations of a load on the vibration transmitter during vibration and vibrations can start an appropriate mechanical resonate frequency irrespective of the load status of the vibration transmitter at the start-up.

A horn used in an ultrasonic surgical operating instrument for crushing and removing organic tissue comprises a horn body vibrated by and ultrasonic vibration source for crushing the organic tissue, a removing passage extending through the horn body, through which the crushed tissue is removed outside, a bulkhead disposed in the removing passage, and at least one through hole formed in the bulkhead. The bulkhead and the hole cooperate with each other to reduce a cross-sectional area of the removing passage.

A proportioning valve assembly has a supply port through which a pressurized working fluid is supplied, a drain port through which a pressurized working fluid is drained, and a control port connected to a working chamber defined in a hydraulic cylinder disposed between a vehicular body and a suspension member rotatably supporting a vehicular wheel. The proportioning valve assembly further includes a valve member for adjusting working fluid pressure to be supplied to the working chamber via the control port. A flow restricting orifice is provided in the proportioning valve assembly. The flow restricting orifice employed is designed to provide variable flow restriction depending upon working fluid condition and/or the direction for achieving stabilization of pilot pressure or road shock absorption.

A proportioning valve assembly employs an electromagnetic acuator, such as a proportioning solenoid, associated with a driver circuit. The driver circuit is provided a lead phase circuit for providing a lead phase in supplying a supply current for controlling the valve position of the proportioning valve. Providing appropriate lead time reduces necessity of high gain in attitude change suppression mode operation. Therefore, the response characteristics in pressure adjustment in the shock absorbing mode operation, can be prevented from falling an excessive level.

Proportioning valve assembly for an actively controlled suspension system

A control system for steering front wheels or rear wheels of a controlled vehicle has a processing unit such as a microcomputer which determines a desired value of a dynamical variable such as yaw acceleration corresponding to sensed steering wheel angle and sensed vehicle speed by solving equations of motion of a vehicle in which parameters are set equal to desired values determined by a desired vehicle. From the desired value of the dynamical variable, the processing unit determines a desired value of a steering angle of the front or rear wheels, and commands a hydraulic actuator to steer the front or rear wheels so that the controlled vehicle behaves as if it were the desired vehicle. The controlled vehicle may have a mechanical steering linkage for steering the front wheels in a conventional manner, and the control system may be arranged to control the steering angle of the rear wheels.

Steering angle control system for wheeled vehicle

A reference setting system for determining a target vehicle cornering behavior which can be used as a standard for determining a deviation of an actual cornering behavior such yaw rate and lateral acceleration of the vehicle, is arranged to have a steering angle sensor, a vehicle speed sensor and an operational unit which determines the target behavior from sensed steering angle and vehicle speed in accordance with predetermined equations of motion of a wheeled vehicle. The system may further has a differentiator for determining a steering speed from the steering angle, and a device for adjusting the target behavior in accordance with the steering speed.

A control strategy is disclosed wherein a desired driving force is determined based on sensed input signals and a throttle actuator and a reduction ratio actuator are actuated so that the engine can produce the desired driving force without deviating from the predetermined best fuel economy curve.

A control system for steering either or both of front wheel pair and a rear wheel pair of a controlled vehicle has a processing unit such as a microcomputer for determining a desired vehicle behavior, and an actuator unit for steering either or both of the front and rear wheel pairs under command of the processing unit. The processing unit first determines a desired value of a dynamical variable such as a yaw acceleration corresponding to sensed steering input and sensed vehicle speed by solving equations of motion of a desired vehicle obtained by setting vehicle parameters appearing in the equations to desired values determined by the desired vehicle. The processing unit further determines a desired value of a steering angle of at least one of the front and rear wheel pairs which is required to achieve the desired value of the dynamical variable by solving equations of motion obtained by setting the vehicle parameters equal to actual values determined by the controlled vehicle. The control system further has an actual behavior sensor for sensing an actual value of the yaw acceleration or other dynamical variable of the controlled vehicle, and an adjuster for adjusting the actual values of one or more vehicle parameters used in determining the desired steering angle, in accordance with the actual value of the dynamical variable.

System for controlling cornering characteristics of wheeled vehicle

A control system for steering front wheels and rear wheels of a controlled vehicle has a processing unit such as a microcomputer which determines a desired value of at least one of dynamical variables such as yaw rate, yaw acceleration, and lateral acceleration from sensed steering input and sensed vehicle speed by solving equations of motion of a vehicle in which parameters inherent to the vehicle are set equal to desired values so determined as to provide desired cornering characteristics. From the desired value of the dynamical variable, the processing unit determines desired values of front and rear steering angles of the front and rear wheels required to achieve the desired value of the dynamical variable in the controlled vehicle. The control system further has a front wheel steering actuator for steering the front wheels in accordance with the desired value of the front steering angle, and a rear wheel steering actuator for steering the rear wheels in accordance with the desired value of the rear steering angle.
