Two-dimensional optical scanner includes: a first acousto-optical deflector (AOD) and a second AOD that deflects light according to a signal; a first driving unit that rotates the first AOD around axis perpendicular to a first plane including the light on and light from the first AOD; a first prism that is arranged adjacent to an emission end of the first AOD and compensates angular dispersion of the light; a second driving unit that rotates the second AOD around axis perpendicular to a second plane including the light on and light from the second AOD and perpendicular to the first plane; a second prism that is arranged adjacent to an emission end of the second AOD and compensates angular dispersion of the light; and a relay lens that allows the emission end of the first AOD and an incident end of the second AOD to be optically conjugate.

A microdissection apparatus includes a laser light source to emit laser light, and a laser light irradiation optical system to irradiate a sample with the laser light from the laser light source. The laser light irradiation optical system includes an active optical element, which is allowed to form a pattern reflecting a necessary area, and sets a laser light irradiation area, to which the laser light is applied, based on the pattern formed on the active optical element.

Microdissection apparatus and method

In a confocal laser scanning microscope that is equipped with a first scanning optical system for emitting an observation beam to scan and observe a sample and a second scanning optical system for emitting an excitation beam to scan and stimulate optically a part of the sample, the improvement of providing a micromirror device that simultaneously reflects the observation beam and the excitation beam as multiple sub-beams onto the sample. An optical scanning method using a confocal laser scanning microscope is disclosed that scans a sample with an observation beam and an excitation beam simultaneously using multiple observation beam spots and multiple excitation beams spots, thereby enabling events of short duration to be observed and/or recorded.

A centrifuge microscope includes a disk which is rotatable around a rotation axis and which is provided with a sample chamber for accommodating a sample. An observation optical system is provided which includes an objective lens which is positioned such that the sample chamber crosses an optical axis of the objective lens as the disk rotates. A pulsed laser source is provided for emitting a pulsed laser to the sample at a timing at which the sample chamber crosses the optical axis of the objective lens. And a delay time adjusting section is provided for adjusting a delay time of an emission timing of the pulsed laser in accordance with a rotational speed of the disk.
