In a lithium-ion capacitor, the positive electrode includes a positive current collector and a positive electrode mixture layer. The positive electrode mixture layer contains a positive electrode active material. An electrostatic capacity of the positive current collector is less than or equal to 20 μF/cm. The negative electrode includes a negative current collector and a negative electrode mixture layer. The negative electrode mixture layer contains a negative electrode active material. The electrolyte contains a first lithium salt and a second lithium salt. The first lithium salt is a lithium salt of a fluorine-containing inorganic acid, and the second lithium salt is a lithium salt of a fluorine-containing acid imide. A proportion of a molar concentration of the first lithium salt in a total molar concentration of the first lithium salt and the second lithium salt in the electrolyte is more than 0% and less than or equal to 35%.

An electrochemical device includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator disposed between these electrodes. The positive electrode includes a positive current collector containing a first metal, a carbon layer containing a conductive carbon material, a barrier layer disposed between the positive current collector and the carbon layer, and an active layer disposed on the carbon layer. The barrier layer has conductivity and higher acid resistance than the positive current collector. The active layer contains a conductive polymer. The first metal is preferably aluminum.

A method for manufacturing an electrochemical device includes the following steps: a step of preparing a positive electrode, the positive electrode including a first current collector and a positive electrode layer containing a conductive polymer; a step of preparing a negative electrode, the negative electrode including a second current collector and a negative electrode layer; and a step of sealing the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and an electrolytic solution in an exterior body. The step of preparing the positive electrode includes a step of holding the positive electrode in depressurized atmosphere and then introducing gas containing COas a primary component into the depressurized atmosphere.

A lower electric potential is to be applied to the second collector than to the first collector. The electrolytic solution contains anion including fluorine as electrolyte. The separator includes a separation layer facing the second polarizable electrode layer, and an inhibition layer facing the first polarizable electrode layer. The separation layer contains cellulose. The inhibition layer is made of material different from that of the separation layer. The inhibition layer prevents cellulose from decomposing. This electric double layer capacitor prevents the separator from dissolving, having an excellent long-term reliability.
