The present invention is intended to provide an organic LED element in which the extraction efficiency is improved up to 80% of emitted light, and provides a translucent substrate comprising a translucent glass substrate; a scattering layer formed on the glass substrate and comprising a glass which contains a base material having a first refractive index for at least one wavelength of light to be transmitted and a plurality of scattering materials dispersed in the base material and having a second refractive index different from that of the base material; and a translucent electrode formed on the scattering layer and having a third refractive index higher than the first refractive index, wherein distribution of the scattering materials in the scattering layer decreases toward the translucent electrode.

The present invention provides an organic LED element in which the extraction efficiency is improved up to 80% of emitted light. Further, the invention relates to an electrode-attached translucent substrate having a translucent substrate, a scattering layer formed over the glass substrate and containing a base material having a first refractive index for at least one wavelength of wavelengths of emitted light of an organic LED element and a plurality of scattering materials positioned in the base material and having a second refractive index different from that of the base material, and a translucent electrode formed over the scattering layer and having a third refractive index equal to or lower than the first refractive index, in which distribution of the scattering materials in the scattering layer decreases from the inside of the scattering layer toward the translucent electrode.

A glass composition having high refractive index, softening property at low temperature and small average thermal expansion coefficient, and a member provided with the composition on a substrate, are provided. The glass composition of the present invention has a refractive index (n) of from 1.88 to 2.20, a glass transition temperature (T) of from 450 to 490&#xb0; C., and an average thermal expansion coefficient at temperatures from 50&#xb0; C. to 300&#xb0; C. (&#x3b1;) of from 60&#xd7;10/K to 90&#xd7;10/K, and includes BiOin an amount of from 5 to 25% in terms of mol % on the basis of oxides.

A glass to be used in a scattering layer of an organic LED element, and an organic LED element using the scattering layer are provided. The organic LED element of the present invention includes, a transparent substrate, a first electrode provided on the transparent electrode, an organic layer provided on the first electrode, and a second electrode provided on the organic layer, and further includes a scattering layer including, in terms of mol % on the basis of oxides, 15 to 30% of PO, 5 to 25% of BiO, 5 to 27% of NbO, and 10 to 35% of ZnO and having a total content of alkali metal oxides including LiO, NaO and KO of 5% by mass or less.
