A communication method and an apparatus, the method including determining, by a first terminal, first hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) information associated with a first sidelink grant, where the first sidelink grant is associated with carrying data between the first terminal and a second terminal, and where the first HARQ information comprises a first HARQ process identifier associated with the first sidelink grant, and sending, by the first terminal, the first HARQ information to the second terminal through a sidelink, where the sidelink is a direct wireless communication link between the first terminal and the second terminal.

Communication method and apparatus for providing HARQ information via sidelink

The method includes: a first terminal device determines a first new data indicator NDI based on an identifier of a first destination address and an identifier of a first hybrid automatic repeat request HARQ process, where the first NDI is included in first sidelink control information SCI, and the first SCI is used to schedule first data; and the first terminal device sends, through a sidelink, the first SCI and/or the first data to a second terminal device.

The method includes: A first terminal apparatus determines that a TB transmitted in a first HARQ process is a first TB transmitted for the last time or a newly transmitted TB; and stops a first timer. The second terminal apparatus receives the first indication information, and stops a second timer based on the first indication information.
