A method is provided for on-boarding/integrating a monitoring device, such as a smart camera, into an electronic monitoring system. A plurality of access points to a wireless network are displayed on a user device such as a smartphone. Each of the plurality of access points has a corresponding credential associated therewith. Some or all of the plurality of access points are selected. A computer-readable code including information for the selected access points and associated credentials is generated. The monitoring device reads the computer-readable code to obtain the information for the selected access points and associated credentials. Access points may be prioritized for connection to the wireless network based on signal strength.

Method of on-boarding a monitoring device into a networked electronic monitoring system

A method of conserving a battery-powered electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device is wirelessly communicable with an access point over a wireless local area network. Also disclosed are an electronic device and a system for performing the method. The method includes causing a first control architecture to be in an idle state; while the first control architecture is in an idle state and with a second control architecture, receiving a beacon frame from the access point, the beacon frame including electronic device association information, checking the beacon frame if the electronic device is associated with the access point, and providing a wakeup signal to the first control architecture when the electronic device is dissociated. The method further includes communicating from the second control architecture to the first control architecture that the electronic device was dissociated from the access point.

A method of and system for conserving power of a battery in a battery-powered electronic device are disclosed. The electronic device, which can be a digital camera, is wirelessly communicable with one or more access points over a wireless local area network. The electronic device is also wirelessly communicable over a plurality of frequency channels in one or more frequency bands. The method of conserving power relates to an improved roaming process. Also disclosed are an electronic device and a system for performing the method.

Methods and apparatus for providing enhanced optical networking service and performance which are particularly advantageous in terms of low cost and use of existing infrastructure, access control techniques, and components. In the exemplary embodiment, current widespread deployment and associated low cost of Ethernet-based systems are leveraged through use of an Ethernet CSMA/CD MAC in the optical domain on a passive optical network (PON) system. Additionally, local networking services are optionally provided to the network units on the PON since each local receiver can receive signals from all other users. An improved symmetric coupler arrangement provides the foregoing functionality at low cost. The improved system architecture also allows for fiber failure protection which is readily implemented at low cost and with minimal modification.

Techniques and system designs are described for providing mobile communication systems with negotiation mechanisms to select data integrity schemes based on quality of service (QoS) schemes to enhance system performance during mobile handover processes. In one aspect, a method for providing data integrity in a wireless communication network includes providing a quality of service (QoS) profile for a service flow for a mobile station to include information of one or more QoS requirements of the service flow and a data integrity indicator to indicate information of data integrity for the service flow during a handover of the mobile station from one base station to another base station; and using the data integrity indicator to assist selection of a data integrity scheme from one or more data integrity schemes available to the service flow during the handover of the mobile station.
