An absorbent article includes a front waist region, a rear waist region, and a crotch region, the front waist region having a front fastener and an outermost surface, the absorbent article further including a longitudinal axis and a lateral axis. The absorbent article also includes an absorbent assembly including a bodyside liner, an outer cover, and an absorbent body disposed between the bodyside liner and the outer cover; and a gripper handle disposed in the front waist region and extending from the outermost surface, wherein the outermost surface is one of the outer cover and the front fastener.

A method of manufacturing an absorbent article includes directing a web of side panel material and a waist elastic material separate from the web of side panel material to travel. The waist elastic material is bonded to the web of side panel material. The web of side panel material having the waist elastic material bonded thereto is cut to form a side panel having a waistband portion. The side panel having the waistband portion is attached to a chassis.

A disposable absorbent garment has an elastic inner layer having an interior surface for facing a wearer of the garment, and an exterior surface. The elastic inner layer has an elongate opening therein disposed at least within a crotch region of the garment, and is stretchable in at least a lateral direction of the garment. An outer layer of the garment is in opposed relationship with the elastic inner layer and is stretchable in at least the lateral direction of the garment. An absorbent assembly is secured to the elastic inner layer between the elastic inner layer and the outer layer and is sized larger than the opening of the elastic inner layer for underlying substantially the entire opening. The absorbent assembly is stretchable in at least the lateral direction of the garment for lateral stretching thereof in response to lateral stretching of the elastic inner layer.

An absorbent article has first and second waist regions that define transversely opposite sides extending a length Lp from a waist opening to a leg opening. A disposal tab has an attachment region extending a greatest length La along at least a portion of the length Lp. The article includes a primary fastening system for releasably attaching the first and second waist regions. The article further includes a disposal tab having an attachment region in the second waist region that extends a greatest length La along at least a portion of the length Lp. The disposal tab includes a tab region that extends transversely outward from the attachment region and is attachable to the article in at least the disposal configuration. The disposal tab comprises a fastening component in the tab region and a base substrate that is releasably attachable to a hook material of the primary fastening system.

A biaxial stretch, form-fitting, pant-like, absorbent garment has a stretchable outer cover, a stretchable body side liner, and a stretchable absorbent assembly. The outer cover and the body side liner are desirably biaxially stretchable. The absorbent assembly can either be biaxially stretchable or segmented with longitudinal stretch. The absorbent garment is easy to apply, has a self-adjusting feature, and delivers enhanced fit and comfort during use without restricting a wearer's movement.

An absorbent article includes at least one fit panel which is located in one of the waist sections of the absorbent article adjacent an end edge of the absorbent article. The fit panel extends laterally beyond both of the side edges of an absorbent chassis of the absorbent article. The fit panel may include a center bridge panel and a pair of laterally opposed side panels which are connected to opposed lateral edges of the bridge panel. Desirably, the bridge panel and side panels provide individual zones of elasticity across the width of the fit panel which have different elastic properties.
