Disclosed herein are an apparatus and method for controlling a vehicle. The apparatus for controlling a vehicle includes a sensor unit configured to output a signal corresponding to behavior information on a vehicle and a signal corresponding to information on an external environment of the vehicle, a controller configured to calculate a crosswind tendency including information on a strength and a direction of a crosswind applied to the vehicle based on the signal received from the sensor unit, calculate a partial braking torque for compensating for a pulling caused by the crosswind based on the crosswind tendency, and calculate a compensation steering torque for compensating for a steering angle deviation based on the partial braking torque, a braking unit configured to perform partial braking of the vehicle by outputting the partial braking torque, and a steering unit configured to perform steering of the vehicle by outputting the compensation steering torque.

Apparatus and method for controlling vehicle

Disclosed is a brake system. The brake system includes: an electronic control unit configured to perform an attitude control function based on a wheel speed sensor value received from each of a plurality of wheel speed sensors installed in a plurality of wheels of a vehicle, identify a failure of the attitude control function, and provide a braking signal to perform the attitude control function according to the identified result; and a brake configured to perform a braking control on a corresponding wheel based on the braking signal, wherein the electronic control unit is configured to identify a failure of at least one of the plurality of wheel speed sensors while performing the attitude control function, and set an operation mode of an Electronic Stability Control (ESC) according to the identified result.

Brake system and control method thereof

A vehicle control apparatus includes a vehicle state sensor, a braking force adjuster, a driving force adjuster, and a controller. When a steering system fails, the controller applies partial braking to the vehicle by providing a braking force to turn-direction inner wheels of the vehicle according to a steering situation to allow the vehicle to turn left or right. The controller also applies compensated driving to the vehicle by providing a compensating driving force corresponding to a reduction in braking force by the partial braking to driving wheels of the vehicle.
