A pair of polarizers having different polarization efficiencies is employed for a display device. With such a pair of polarizers, the brightness may increase without deteriorating the contrast.

Display device

In a voltage generating circuit and a display apparatus, a driving voltage generator receives an input voltage to output a first driving voltage and a second driving voltage that is inversely proportional to a temperature in response to a feedback voltage. A temperature compensator generates the feedback voltage as a function of the temperature and the second driving voltage and applies it to the driving voltage generator. A gate-on voltage generator pumps the second driving voltage to generate a gate-on voltage, and a gamma voltage generator outputs a plurality of gamma voltages, each having a different voltage level that is disposed between the first driving voltage and a ground voltage. The gate-on voltage, which is inversely proportional to the temperature, is applied to the gate driver, and the gamma voltages, which are maintained at constant levels, prevent the response speed of the display apparatus from varying with temperature.

LCD voltage generating circuits

The invention relates to a panel for controlling viewing angle and a liquid crystal display having the same. More particularly, there is provided a panel for controlling viewing angle including a first substrate; a second substrate facing the first substrate; liquid crystal layer provided between the first and the second substrate; a first electrode disposed on the first substrate; a second electrode disposed on a first side of the second substrate facing the first electrode; and a light blocking film disposed on a second side of the second electrode and a liquid crystal display having the same.

Panel for controlling viewing angle and liquid crystal display having the same

A display device includes a display panel, a backlight assembly providing a light to the display panel, a receiving container receiving the backlight assembly and a heat sink member disposed between the backlight assembly and the receiving container. The display panel includes a first substrate including a pixel electrode formed on a pixel region and electrically connected to a switching device, a first alignment layer formed on the pixel electrode, a second substrate including a common electrode layer facing the first substrate, a second alignment layer formed on the common electrode layer, and a liquid crystal layer including a liquid crystal composition having a nematic-to-isotropic transition temperature higher than about 80&#xb0; C. Thus, black bruising of liquid crystal may be prevented and/or reduced, thereby enhancing a display quality.

Display device and method of manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display (LCD) which can be driven at a low voltage and has a fast response time. The LCD includes a liquid crystal composition interposed between a first substrate and a second substrate, wherein the liquid crystal composition includes a first polar liquid crystal compound and a second polar liquid crystal compound, each in an amount of 20% or less by weight based on a weight of the liquid crystal composition, wherein the first polar liquid crystal compound is represented by and the second polar liquid crystal compound is represented by at least one of where each of R1, R2, and R3, and R4 independently is an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, or an alkenyl group having about 2 to about 15 carbon atoms.

Liquid crystal display

An end-sealant composition for a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel includes an acrylic polymer resin, a polymeric photoinitiator polymerized into an acrylic chain, and an acryl-philic coupling agent. The end-sealant composition exhibits reduced diffusion into the liquid crystals during an end-sealant forming process. Image defects such as stains around fill ports and incidental images are thereby prevented, so that high quality displays can be prepared. Use of the end-sealant composition can provide high performance for high dielectric constant liquid crystals that are widely used in the fabrication of liquid crystal display panels.

End-sealant composition, liquid crystal display panel, and method of manufacturing liquid crystal display panel

Disclosed are a liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal display using the same. The liquid crystal composition includes a polar compound and a low-viscosity compound. The liquid crystal display includes first and second substrates that face each other, and first and second electrodes disposed on the first and second substrates, respectively. A liquid crystal layer including the liquid crystal composition is disposed between the first and second substrates.
