A liquid crystal display ('LCD') includes a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines intersecting the gate lines, a plurality of switching elements connected to the gate lines and the data lines, a plurality of storage electrodes, a plurality of storage electrode lines connected to the storage electrodes, a plurality of pixel electrodes connected to the switching elements and overlapping the storage electrodes, a gate driver generating gate signals having a gate-on voltage and a gate-off voltage to apply to the gate lines, a data driver generating data voltages corresponding to externally applied image signals to apply to the data lines, and a storage electrode driver generating storage electrode signals having a reference voltage, a high voltage larger than the reference voltage, and a low voltage smaller than the reference voltage to apply to the storage electrode lines. Each storage electrode signal changes a level thereof when the gate-on voltage is applied to the gate lines and changes a level thereof when a predetermined time elapses after the gate-off voltage is applied to the gate lines.

One or more embodiments of a display substrate include a base substrate and a pixel electrode. The base substrate has a pixel area defined thereon. The pixel electrode includes a low pixel electrode formed in the pixel area to receive a first voltage, a high pixel electrode spaced apart from the low pixel electrode along a first direction to receive a second voltage that is higher than the first voltage, and a liquid crystal molecule control part formed on at least one of the low and high pixel electrodes so as to control liquid crystal molecules disposed at an area corresponding to a boundary of the low and high pixel electrodes. The liquid crystal molecules disposed at a domain corresponding to a boundary between the low and high pixel electrodes may be controlled, so that the generation of stains or afterimages may be prevented at a boundary of domain areas.

The present invention relates to a display device having an image-emitting panel and an image dividing sheet. The image-emitting panel includes a light-blocking layer, a lower substrate, an upper substrate and an electro-optic layer. The lower substrate includes pixel electrodes into which a first image signal and a second image signal having different viewing angles are applied in a spatial dividing method. The electro-optic layer reflects a circularly polarized light towards the upper substrate. The image dividing sheet includes a first optical element and a second optical element. The first optical element converts the circularly polarized light into a first light corresponding to the first image signal. The second optical element converts the circularly polarized light into a second light corresponding to the second image signal.

A method of manufacturing an active matrix substrate is presented. The method includes forming a transistor having a gate line, a semiconductor layer, an insulating layer between the gate line and the semiconductor layer, a source electrode, and a drain electrode; forming a pixel electrode comprising a first sub-pixel electrode and a second sub-pixel electrode; forming an auxiliary coupling electrode connected to the second sub-pixel electrode through a first contact hole; and forming the first sub-pixel electrode through a second contact hole connected to the drain electrode of the transistor. The auxiliary coupling electrode and the first sub-pixel electrode overlap each other such that the second sub-pixel electrode is capacitively coupled to the first sub-pixel electrode and the auxiliary coupling electrode and the electrode part form a capacitor.
