There is provided a method device for facilitating remote access capability. An exemplary device comprises a connection module for connecting the device to a remote location. The exemplary device also comprises a smartcard comprising a secure identification and/or authentication component. The exemplary device additionally comprises a control module, at least part of which is comprised in the smartcard, interfacing with the connection module and with a component of the device, the control module being adapted to access the component in conjunction with a communication between the control module and the remote location via the connection module.

There is provided a method for providing access to data securely stored in memory card. An exemplary method comprises specifying first time information corresponding to a time period and storing the first time information in the memory card. The exemplary method also comprises inserting the memory card into a terminal. The exemplary method additionally comprises determining in a control unit included in the memory card, whether the time period has lapsed. The exemplary method also comprises allowing the terminal to access the data until it is determined that the time period has lapsed.

Additionally, the add-on device modifies a visible content of the message and forwards the message with the modified visible content to the radio module for transmitting the message to the mobile communication network.

There is provided a chip card that is configured to be inserted into a host device. An exemplary chip card comprises a microcontroller that includes a processor and a memory unit. The microcontroller is connected to a power terminal of the chip card for receiving power from a first power supply of the host device. Access to authorized domains

A computer, such as a Windows-based PC, has associated with it a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM), such as of the type used in a GSM or UMTS cellular or mobile telecommunications network. The SIMcan be authenticated with the networkin the same way as for authenticating SIMs of mobile telephone handsets used in the network, and can in this way authenticate the user of the PCor the PCitself. Such authentication can, for example, permit use of the PCin relation to a particular application running on the PC. Challenge and response messages are transmitted between the networkand the SIMvia an authenticator moduleimplemented on the PC. These authentication messages have the predetermined format of an Over The Air (OTA) message, which is also used in GSM or UMTS telecommunications networks to transmit non-authentication messages&#x2014;for example, SMS messages. The authentication data is encapsulated within OTA messages. The OTA messages are not necessarily transmitted wirelessly (that is, over the air). They may be transmitted via a fixed network; however, they have the predetermined format of OTA messages.

Facilitating and authenticating transactions

The subject innovation relates to a chip card to be inserted in terminals. An exemplary embodiment of the chip card includes a clock unit to provide a time reference and an internal power source to at least run the clock unit in case of absence of an external power source. The exemplary chip card also includes a signal receiver to receive a satellite navigation signal comprising a satellite time signal, the signal receiver being connected to the clock unit in order to synchronize the clock unit with the satellite time signal to enable the clock unit to provide the time reference as a trusted absolute time reference independently from a position of the chip card.

The exemplary method additionally comprises forwarding the data from the managing device to the second memory card and storing the data in the second memory card after having successfully verified said credential in the second memory card.

An exemplary mobile communication device comprises an input unit, a display and a processing unit being connected with a subscriber identity module and with an adapter module, wherein the adapter module is in communication with at least one sensor capturing biological and/or medical data of the user of the mobile communication device.

There is provided a method for providing access to data securely stored in a memory card. An exemplary method comprises receiving the memory card in a terminal. The exemplary method also comprises transmitting a request for accessing the data via a communication link from the terminal to a device. The exemplary method additionally comprises sending first information from the device to the terminal via the communication link upon receipt of the request. In addition, the exemplary method comprises receiving the first information in the terminal and accessing the data using the first information.
