Apparatus for text entry and associated methods

Mechanisms are described for determining a contact associated with keywords of content presented to a user and for enabling communication with the contact via the same user interface via which the content is presented. At least one keyword is identified relating to content presented to the user via the user interface, and a contact is determined that is associated with the keyword identified. A communication is then caused to be exchanged between the user and the contact determined in response to receipt of a communication input provided by the user. The communication input is received via the user interface presenting the content. In this way, a user can make quick connections to contacts for sharing information in the process of consuming content based on an analysis of keywords from the content.

Apparatus and method for providing connections to contacts based on associations with content

An approach for obtaining and applying an identification token is provided. One approach includes obtaining one or more tokens for screening incoming communication items to a first user, encrypting the one or more tokens to create respective one or more encrypted tokens, and providing the one or more encrypted tokens to one or more second users for subsequent use in communication to the first user to enable the first user to screen incoming communication items. Another approach includes receiving an indication of one or more incoming communication items addressed to a first user and an encrypted token associated with one or more identifiers characterizing the one or more communication items, decrypting the encrypted token to derive a decrypted token to enable verification of the token, and applying a predetermined rule based on the outcome of the verification to screen incoming communication items.

Identification token

An approach is provided for providing efficient power saving schemes for a device and any associated sensors thereon while allowing for various levels of functionalities. A device determines a distance from a location of a device on a route to a checkpoint location on the route based, at least in part, on mapping data associated with the route. Then the device causes an initiation of a sleep mode of operation for at least one location sensor associated with the device. Further, the device causes an initiation of an active mode of operation for the at least one location sensor based, at least one in part, on a determination that the device has substantially traveled the distance, a portion of the distance, or a combination thereof.

Method and apparatus for power saving scheme in a location sensor

An example approach is provided for causing, at least in part, a generation of token data associated with at least one scheduled meeting between at least one first user and at least one second user. The approach also involves causing, at least in part, a transmission of the token data to at least one first device associated with the at least one first user and at least one second device associated with the at least one second user. The approach further involves causing, at least in part, a sharing of location information between the at least one first device and the at least one second device based, at least in part, on the token data.
