Provided are aptamers and aptamer compositions and particularly, although not exclusively, to a bi-specific aptamer capable of binding a tumor cell antigen and an immune cell surface protein.

Aptamer compositions and the use thereof

A method and combination for treating a cancer patient by combining two distinct immuno-therapy solutions for administration to a patient within a common time period, comprising a checkpoint inhibitor antibody component such as a PD-1 or PD-L1 antibody administered by infusion, and a TAA/ecdCD40L vaccine component administered subcutaneously, wherein an initial antibody component administered is followed by at least several successive antibody boosts and an initial vaccine component administered is followed by at least several successive vaccine boosts, both the initial and boosts of each administered within at least said common time period, wherein the combined administration of said two distinct immuno-therapy solutions provides for an enhanced therapeutic effect, over that of the therapeutic effect of either of the two distinct immuno-therapy component solutions when administered alone as monotherapy.

Combination cancer therapy

A ribonucleic acid compound is disclosed, the ribonucleic acid compound comprising, or consisting of, an RNA sequence having at least 90% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 1, wherein said RNA sequence has a length of 29 nucleotides or fewer, and wherein the RNA sequence is capable of binding to a transferrin receptor (TfR).

Bi-specific aptamer

A method for maintaining patency in a duct or hollow vessel located within the body of a patient is described wherein the duct includes one or more obstructions. The method comprises the steps of introducing a device into the duct, the device comprising a catheter having a distal and a proximal end, wherein the distal end includes a distal tip portion and wherein the distal tip portion comprises at least one energy delivery member; locating the device within the duct at a position proximal to the obstruction; delivering energy to the duct and any surrounding tissue via the at least one energy delivery member for a specified time period, so that the obstruction is removed from the duct; and withdrawing the device from the duct. It is optional to subsequently place a device such as a stent at the therapy site in order to further maintain long term patency of the duct. It is also optional to apply a dilation force to the duct or hollow vessel after the energy delivery phase. Systems are also described for performing the methods of the disclosure.

PDGFR RNA aptamers

A device and method suitable for remodelling the internal surface of a hollow vessel at least partially occluded by a mass is provided. The device comprises an elongate body having a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end comprising a tip portion located at the distal terminus of the body, and at least one heating element located proximally to the tip portion within the distal end. The at least one heating element is configured to be greater in dimension proximally than distally and thereby tapers towards the distal end. Furthermore, the at least one heating element is arranged so that it can be deployed outwardly from the body of the device and in so doing exert an expansion force on the hollow vessel. The at least one heating element is capable of delivering sufficient energy to remodel the internal surface, and if necessary caused localized ablation, of the hollow vessel without inducing closure of the hollow vessel.

Lumenal remodeling device and methods

A device for generating localized heating in a selected body tissue includes an applicator having a source of microwave radiation and an array of retractable needles arranged so as to extend from one face of the applicator and, in operation, to confine the irradiated microwave energy field emanating from the applicator. The device has application for controlling excessive bleeding from severed tissue during surgical procedures.

Method of using electrosurgical device for restricting loss of blood during surgery

The invention provides an apoptosis-modulating cell-free composition comprising conditioned extracellular medium of a stem cell and uses thereof, particularly therapeutic uses. Also provided is a method of obtaining such a composition and an in vitro method of modulating apoptosis.

Medium derived from stem cells as a pharmaceutical composition

Devices suitable for insertion into a hollow anatomical structure within a patient for the purpose of ablating tissue within or surrounding the hollow structure so as to induce occlusion of the hollow structure are provided. The devices are in the form of guidewires with functional tips, that comprise at least one heating module, at their distal ends. The devices of the invention are suitable for occluding hollow anatomical structures selected from vasculature or from non-vascular ducts and tubes, via percutaneous, laparoscopic or endoscopic routes of access. Methods of using the devices in the treatment of patients are also described.

Apparatus for administering therapy at a remote location in the body

Blood loss during solid organ surgery where diseased tissue is removed from the solid organ by delivery of thermal energy by one or more probes. The blood loss is stemmed by effecting coagulative necrosis of solid organ in the zone adjacent the probe(s). The or each probe can have means for cooling tissue in the vicinity of the tip of the probe. The method can be applied, inter alia, to liver and spleen surgery.
