Described herein are systems and methods for content streaming with bandwidth management. Prior to shipment of a streaming device, partial content and remaining content from content may be generated. The partial content may be configured to be unusable for presentation at the streaming device without at least a portion of the remaining content, and the remaining content may be configured to be unusable for presentation at the streaming device without at least a portion of the partial content. The partial content may be combinable with the remaining content by the streaming device to form a presentable file corresponding to the first content. The partial content may have a filename extension indicating that an associated media file includes the partial content, and the associated media file is different from the presentable file. The partial content on the streaming device may be stored prior to the shipment of the streaming device.

Establishing an initial configuration of a streaming device

An effortless and automated reordering system includes a dedicated electronic device with a simple button interface that, upon depression of the button, initiates a process of ordering (or reordering) a product associated with the device and a button on that device. The electronic device may store in memory a device identifier and button identifiers for each button as the basis for order request information. The stored data may be communicated to a fulfillment service (e.g., an online merchant, fulfillment center, etc.) for order identification processing. In some cases, an application provided by the fulfillment service may be executed on a secondary management device to allow a user to configure the electronic device to map the buttons to different products, and even different vendors, to facilitate reconfigurable order management.

Effortless and automated reordering

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for ambient light sensing for electronic displays. In one embodiment, a device may include a cover layer, a display, and a capacitive sensor stack positioned in between the cover layer and the display. The capacitive sensor stack may include a first sensor optically coupled to the cover layer, a light guide optically coupled to the first sensor, where the light guide is translucent and compressible, and a second sensor optically coupled to the display and to the light guide. The capacitive sensor stack may be configured to detect a force received at the cover film and to compress in response to the force.

Approaches are described for securely sending, receiving, or otherwise processing communications between electronic devices. A communication can be received at a computing device (such as a mobile phone). The communication can include information captured about a person initiating the communication such as an image of the user, voice data of the user, typing pattern information of the user, or any other information that can be used to identify the user generating the communication. The information can be compared against profile data (e.g., contact information such as a phone number or name of the sender) associated with or otherwise stored for an indicated sender of the communication to generate a confidence value, where the confidence value can be used to indicate that the person initiating the communication is the indicated sender.

A proximity detection module determines, using an infrared (IR) sensor of a user device, a distance between an object and the user device. The proximity detection module compares the distance to a distance threshold. If the distance is below the predefined distance threshold, the proximity detection module determines, using a capacitance sensor of the user device, a capacitance value associated with the object. The proximity detection module compares the capacitance value to a predefined presence threshold, and if the capacitance value meets or exceeds the predefined presence threshold, determines that the object comprises a body part of a user.

Described herein are systems and methods for content streaming with bandwidth management. Partial content is generated from source content at a server and distributed to a streaming device, such as during periods when network bandwidth is available. This partial content is incomplete relative to the source content and is unusable. During presentation of the content, remaining content is streamed from the server and combined with the partial content to generate complete content suitable for presentation.

A user device may include a transmission power manager to control a transmission power level of a wireless transceiver based on a location of a human body proximate the user device as detected by a proximity sensor. During initiation, the user device may record proximity data. The transmission power manager may perform a statistical analysis of the proximity data to generate refined proximity data that excludes or minimizes outlier data. The modified proximity data may then be compared to preexisting proximity data to determine whether a human body is within a threshold distance from the proximity sensor. When the modified proximity data is outside a threshold from the preexisting stored proximity data, then the modified proximity data may be compared to default proximity data to determine whether a human body is within a threshold distance from the proximity sensor.
