A method of configuring an HVAC system uses a Specifier Library that includes specifier options for a plurality of HVAC components. An engineering tool accepts a user selection of an HVAC component that will be part of the HVAC system and displays one or more options for the selected HVAC component. The engineering tool accepts selections of one or more options by the user and creates one or more points for the selected HVAC component based on the user selections, each of the one or more points having one or more point parameter values. The engineering tool creates a configuration package to configure a controller based at least in part on the user selections and the one or more points and downloads the configuration package to at least partially configure the controller. At least part of the HVAC system is controlled using the controller.

HVAC system configuration with automatic parameter generation

Devices, methods, and systems for determining the cause of a fault in a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system are described herein. One device includes a memory, and a processor configured to execute executable instructions stored in the memory to receive operational data associated with an HVAC system, receive control logic associated with a controller of the HVAC system, determine a cause of a fault occurring in the HVAC system based, at least in part, on the operational data associated with the HVAC system and the control logic of the controller of the HVAC system, and provide the cause of the fault occurring in the HVAC system to a user.

Method and system for determining a cause of a fault in a building control system

A method of providing a plurality of controller certificates for a plurality of controllers within a Building Management System (BMS) includes downloading project information defining the BMS and using the downloaded project information to solicit a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) from each of the plurality of controllers of the BMS. The received CSRs are uploaded to a remote server so that the remote server can generate a corresponding controller certificate for each of the plurality of controllers of the BMS. The generated controller certificates are then downloaded to the corresponding one of the plurality of controllers of the BMS.

A first image of an electronic device is captured and processed in order to identify the electronic device. After identifying the electronic device, information is downloaded to a mobile device including specific wiring instructions for connecting the electronic device, which are superimposed onto an image of the electronic device to guide a user of the mobile device in wiring the electronic device. A second image of an at least partially wired electronic device may be captured and processed to ascertain whether there are any wiring errors. When wiring errors are found by the remote server, the mobile device receives a message from the remote server indicating the wiring errors that were found.

A building management system, such as a small or medium business, having one or more control devices. Assigning codes to devices, and reading and listing them may aid in configuring the devices. Templates may be used for dynamic configuration of devices and equipment. Representing terminal assignments and wiring diagrams of control devices may be intuitive in that they resemble real hardware for ease of complete installation. The present system and approach may provide an intuitive way of securely registering devices with cloud usage, for example, involving a mobile phone with no manual entry of data so that a user can complete this process with ease. An intuitive, automatic and asynchronous device configuration downloading may be seen, such as to multiple control devices in a single shot. There may be seamless configuration data synchronization, for example, in view of replacement devices, or so the latest data is readily available.

A tool for an approach and mechanism for calculating and configuring memory mapping of trend log objects in a system, such as an HVAC. It may incorporate determining available memory of a controller for trending a unit of equipment of a system. A calculation of available records may be made for configuring and using a trend. The calculation may be made in view of the controller memory and parameters including buffer size, log interval and retention time. A change in parameters may cause a recalculation of available records. The 'available record' terms may be regarded as being in a user-understandable format. The format may be intuitive. Anomalies of trends of equipment may lead to spotting issues of the equipment.

Determining the cause of a fault in an HVAC system

Validating a task being performed on an HVAC system is described herein. One system includes a plurality of control devices associated with a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, wherein each respective control device is configured to record an action, taken by that control device as part of a task being performed on the HVAC system, as a block in a block chain for the task, send the block to the other control devices for validation of the action in the block chain for the task, update, upon the validation of the recorded action, the block chain for the task with the block having the recorded action, and store the updated block chain for the task.

Systems, devices, and methods for building system controller configuration propagation are described herein. One system includes a first plant controller configured to control a plurality of controllers of a building system on a first channel, wherein one of the plurality of controllers on the first channel is a master controller, and a subset of the plurality of controllers on the first channel are follower controllers of the master controller, a second plant controller configured to control a plurality of controllers of the building system on a second channel, wherein a subset of the plurality of controllers on the second channel are follower controllers of the master controller, and a computing device in communication with the first plant controller and the second plant controller and configured to receive an indication of a parameter modification made to the master controller and communicate the parameter modification to the second plant controller.
