An example device for generating quality measurement reports includes one or more hardware-based processors implemented using digital circuitry, the processors being configured to execute a middleware unit and a target application for media data. The middleware unit is configured to receive media data via broadcast or multicast from a server device, generate reception reports covering the reception of the media data according to received reporting directives, deliver at least part of the media data to a target application of the client device, receive quality of experience (QoE) reports from the target application, and provide contents of the QoE reports to a reception reporting server.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for providing local broadcasts for group calls. A user equipment (UE) may request a group call, and either a base station or a local server dedicated to the base station may determine whether to allow the group call based at least in part on an assessed level of interest for the group call. If the group call occurs, the UE may perform one or more aspects of user plane processing for the broadcast data&#x2014;such as setting Internet protocol (IP) addresses in IP packets, encryption, compression, or media formatting&#x2014;and may transmit the broadcast data to the base station. The base station may then transmit the broadcast data to one or more interested UEs via one or more multicast transmissions without routing the broadcast data through other network nodes, which may reduce latency and provide other benefits.

In one example, a method of retrieving media data includes, by a multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) client of a client device: receiving advertisement media data of one or more advertisement groups, receiving an identifier value for one of the advertisement groups from a dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP (DASH) client of the client device, extracting the advertisement media data of the advertisement group corresponding to the identifier value, and providing the extracted advertisement media data to the DASH client.

In various embodiments, a processor of a network element of the cellular broadcast system may parse a terrestrial broadcast television service for one or more information elements. The processor may configure a service description of the cellular broadcast system to include the one or more information elements of the terrestrial broadcast television service. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Data for a broadcast or multicast service may be sent over a control channel. A network device may broadcast a message to indicate a plurality of enhanced multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) services offered by the network. The mobile device may transmit an indication to the network device identifying an eMBMS service of interest. The network device may transmit a configuration message before broadcasting or multicasting data of the eMBMS service of interest. The configuration message may notify the mobile device of a control channel on which to receive the data related to the eMBMS service. The network device may then broadcast or multicast the eMBMS service data on the control channel. The data may be segmented at a particular protocol layer and mapped to several transmission time intervals within each repetition of the control channel.

Diversity enhancement for multiple carrier systems is disclosed which includes generation of a multiplexed multicarrier radio frequency (RF) signal having N carriers organized to be accessed at a rate of one carrier access per multicast channel (MCH) scheduling period (MSP) per carrier of the N carriers, thereby requiring N accesses per MSP duration across the N carriers. The method may also include the base station transmitting the RF signal to a user equipment (UE). In other aspects, the diversity enhancements include the UE receiving a multiplexed multicarrier RF signal having N carriers. The UE may access the N carriers by performing one carrier access per MSP per carrier of the N carriers, thereby performing N accesses per MSP duration across the N carriers.

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be a UE that performs a PTT/PTX call setup for communication via MBMS. In a first configuration, the UE sets up a unicast bearer with an eNB, and sends group call setup signaling to the eNB while setting up the unicast bearer. In a second configuration, the UE sets up a unicast bearer with an eNB, and receives group call setup signaling from the eNB while setting up the unicast bearer. In a third configuration, the UE receives a group page while in an RRC idle state, and receives group call setup signaling based on information in the group page.

MBMS bearer enhancements for push to talk or push to everything via eMBMS

An example client device includes a middleware unit for receiving media data either via a broadcast service or a unicast service, depending on whether the broadcast service is available. The client device also includes a streaming client, such as a Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) client. The DASH client sends requests to retrieve media data via the middleware unit. The middleware unit may cache media data received via the broadcast service, such that even when the broadcast service is not active, if the streaming client requests media data that was previously received via the broadcast service, the middleware unit may provide the media data to the streaming client from the cache, rather than requesting the media data from an external server device specified in the request from the streaming client.
