An infant care device that can include a failure indicating feature in one or more of the side panels to discourage improper use of the side panels to move the infant care device. When a side panels is used to move the infant care device and a force greater than a pre-determined maximum is applied to the side panel, the failure indicting feature indicates such improper use. The failure indicating feature is designed to provide an indication at a level of force that is less than the level of force that would damage the hinge and latch assembly holding the side panel. The failure indicating feature can provide a physical indication or a visual indication when a force greater than a predetermined maximum is applied to the side panel.

In one example, a method includes receiving current patient parameters of the patient and applying a weaning model to the current patient parameters to calculate a weaning index representing a likelihood that the patient can be successfully weaned from the microenvironment. The method also includes outputting the weaning index for display on a display device or for storage in a medical record of the patient and upon outputting the weaning index, receiving one or more subsequent patient outcomes, the one or more subsequent patient outcomes comprising whether the patient developed any complications within the duration since being weaned from the microenvironment. The method also includes updating the weaning model based on the one or more received subsequent patient outcomes.

System and method for a thermoregulated environment

Systems/techniques that facilitate two-tiered machine learning generation of birth risk score are provided. In various embodiments, a system can access a plurality of medical feature collections associated with a pregnant patient. In various aspects, the system can generate, via execution of a plurality of first trained machine learning models, a plurality of embedded features based on the plurality of medical feature collections. In various instances, the system can compute, via execution of a second trained machine learning model, a risk score based on the plurality of embedded features, wherein the risk score indicates an amount of risk to a health of the pregnant patient or a health of a fetus of the pregnant patient that is associated with performing a caesarian-section on the pregnant patient or with waiting for the pregnant patient to give birth naturally.

A system for safely containing an infant on a mattress is described. The system includes a plurality of panels that extend upwardly from a base that supports the mattress, wherein the plurality of panels and the base form an enclosure around the mattress, and wherein at least one of the plurality of panels is configured to have a locked position and an unlocked position. The system also includes a detection system that detects when the at least one of the plurality of panels is in the unlocked position and a lighting system operatively coupled to the detection system, wherein the lighting system is configured to emit light when the at least one of the plurality of panels is detected to be in the unlocked position. Furthermore, the system includes a power system that provides energy to the lighting system for emitting the light.

Systems and methods for indicating an open porthole in an infant care station

An infant care station is described herein that can include a heating component of a microenvironment of the infant care station, at least one temperature measuring device, and a processor. The processor can calculate a baseline temperature of the heating component using the at least one temperature measuring device and monitor the heating component using the at least one temperature measuring device to determine one or more operating characteristics. The processor can also detect, based at least in part on the baseline temperature, that the one or more operating characteristics exceed a predetermined threshold and generate a response that results in a correction of the temperature maintained by the heating component.

Systems and methods for controlling a heating component for an infant care station

A system for safely containing an infant on a mattress is described. The system includes a base that supports the mattress and panels that extend upwardly from the base and together form an enclosure around the mattress. A porthole is defined through at least one of the panels, where the porthole provides access into the enclosure. A porthole door has locked and unlocked positions and covers the porthole only in the locked position. A detection system detects when the porthole door is in the unlocked position. A lighting system is operatively coupled to the detection system and is configured to emit light when the porthole door is detected to be in the unlocked position. A power system provides energy to the lighting system for emitting the light.

An infant care station is described herein that can include a wall of the infant care station, wherein the wall includes a primary latch and at least one secondary latch that includes a hinge with at least one bottom pin and at least one top pin, wherein the infant care station is an incubator, a warmer, or a combination thereof. In some examples, one or more pin acceptors are proximate the hinge, wherein the one or more pin acceptors hold the at least one bottom pin and the at least one top pin of the hinge in a closed position of the wall, and wherein the at least one top pin of the wall is released from the one or more pin acceptors in response to a force applied to the wall.

An infant care device includes a mattress and mattress tray configured to support a baby and an enclosure/barrier surrounding the mattress to create a chamber around the baby. A plurality of sensors, such as load cells, are distributed beneath the mattress and mattress tray. A control unit receives information from the load cells and is able to determine the position of the baby on the mattress. A safe zone and a potential fall zone are defined in the control unit. When the determined location of the baby is within the potential fall zone, the control unit operates a resistance mechanism to restrict movement of the baby toward a perimeter edge of the mattress and generates an alarm. Multiple embodiments of the resistance mechanism are disclosed to restrict the movement of the baby.

Various systems and devices are provided for determining a weaning readiness for weaning a patient from a thermoregulated microenvironment. In one example, a method includes receiving a plurality of current patient parameters of a patient housed in a thermoregulated microenvironment, applying a weaning model to the plurality of current patient parameters to generate a weaning index representing a likelihood that the patient will be successfully weaned from the microenvironment if weaned at that time, the weaning model trained to correlate the current patient parameters with the likelihood based on historical data of prior patients and known outcomes for those prior patients, and outputting the weaning index for display on a display device and/or for storage in a medical record of the patient.

A method implemented on a processor includes emitting a light beam from a light source to a component in an absorption cell, wherein the light beam comprises a plurality of wavelength beams. The method further includes generating a plurality of response signals due to the presence of the component, corresponding to the plurality of wavelength beams of the light beam. The method also includes detecting the plurality of response signals by a photo detector coupled to the absorption cell. The method includes determining a concentration of the component based on the plurality of response signals.
