A display device includes a display panel for displaying an instrument image including an index image constituting an index and a pointer image constituting a pointer for pointing the index of the index image and a controller for displaying the instrument image on the display panel. The controller varies at least one of a pointer display mode of the pointer image and an index display mode of the index image so as to increase a readability of the index indicated by the index image when positions associated with the pointer image and the index image coincide.

Display device for increasing the readability of an instrument image

A display device includes a display panel having a plurality of pixels in a form of matrix and a controller configured to control the plurality of pixels of the display panel so that an instrument image indicating an instrument is displayed on the display panel. The instrument image includes a scale image indicating a scale, and a pointer image indicating a pointer that is movable in accordance with an increase and decrease in a measured magnitude for indicating the measured magnitude in association with the scale image. The instrument image further includes a highlight image that is displayed in a predetermined pattern in accordance with at least one of a position and a motion of the pointer image.

A map display controller displays a three-dimensional map image on a display screen of a display device, and superimposes a route wall standing from a route and along the route in the three dimensional map image on the display device. This reduces a difficulty in confirming the route behind structures such as a building in the three-dimensional map image displayed on the display screen.

In a first display mode, a common image function component is displayed to occupy at least a part of a display region of a second specific image function component. In a second display mode, the common image function component is continuously displayed outside the second specific image function component to avoid the overlap therebetween (i.e., such that an exclusive positional relationship is made therebetween). When the display mode is switched, a final transition of the display mode to a display state in the second display mode is made while or after a moving image showing a transition process, in which the common image function component is moved from a display position in the first display mode to a display position in the second display mode, is displayed as a mode transition animation.
