In some examples, a controller circuit comprises: a voltage subtractor circuit having a subtractor output and first and second subtractor inputs, in which the first subtractor input is adapted to be coupled to a first current terminal of a transistor, the second subtractor input is adapted to be coupled to a second current terminal of the transistor; a gate control circuit having a gate control input and a gate control output, the gate control input coupled to the subtractor output, the gate control output adapted to be coupled to a gate of the transistor; and a discharge circuit having a discharge circuit input and a discharge circuit output, the discharge circuit input coupled to the gate control circuit, the discharge circuit output adapted to be coupled to the first current terminal of the transistor.

A circuit for a multi-phase power regulator including a power stage with a first phase and a second phase, the circuit including phase management circuitry coupled to the first phase and the second phase to control the first phase and the second phase, a first comparator coupled to an output of the multi-phase power regulator to compare a value of the output of the multi-phase power regulator to a first threshold value to produce a first comparison result, and phase shedding circuitry coupled to the first comparator and the phase management circuitry to control the phase management circuitry to activate or deactivate the second phase based at least partially on the first comparison result.

Multi-phase power regulator

A multiphase power controller that generates a set of switching control signals to drive a set of power stages. The set of power stages generates an output that drives a load. The multiphase power controller includes a summer to generate an equivalent voltage representative of a sum of inductor currents from each of an inductor in the set of power stages. A threshold generation circuit generates a set of threshold signals in response to a set of control outputs and a reference. A set of comparators generates the set of control outputs, in response to the equivalent voltage and the set of threshold signals. A state machine generates a set of phase control signals in response to the set of control outputs. The set of control outputs changes a number of the set of switching control signals.

Multiphase power controller with dynamic phase management

Undershoot reduction circuitry includes, for example, a first comparator, a second comparator, and a controller. The first comparator is operable for comparing an indication of a power supply voltage output against a first threshold. The second comparator is operable for comparing an indication of the power supply voltage output against a second threshold. The controller is operable for generating a first power control signal to raise the power supply voltage output when the indication of the power supply voltage output has a first slope and crosses the first threshold and to lower the power supply voltage output when the indication of the power supply voltage output has an opposite slope and crosses the second threshold.
