Described herein is a method of using organic carboxylic acids having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in preparation of aqueous basecoat materials for the purpose of improving the adhesion of the aqueous basecoat materials to overbaked clearcoat materials. Also described herein is a method for producing a muilticoat paint system, where a basecoat material is applied directly to an overbaked clearcoat film.

Use of low-molecular carboxylic acids in aqueous base coats

Provided herein is a pigmented aqueous basecoat material including an aqueous polyurethane-polyurea dispersion (PD) having polyurethane-polyurea particles present in the dispersion, an average particle size (volume average) of 40 to 2000 nm, and a gel fraction of at least 50 wt %. The polyurethane-polyurea particles, in each case in reacted form, include: at least one polyurethane prepolymer containing isocyanate groups and including anionic groups and/or groups which can be converted into anionic groups, and at least one polyamine comprising two primary amino groups and one or two secondary amino groups. The aqueous basecoat material includes a specific solvent composition. Also provided herein is a method of using basecoat materials including the dispersion (PD) and multicoat paint systems produced using the basecoat materials.

Aqueous base paints containing cross-linked polyurethane binders and a special solvent composition

Provided herein is a cleaning composition including: from 20 to 90% by weight of dimethyl sulfoxide, from 5 to 30% by weight of at least one mineral oil (M), and from 5 to 50% by weight of at least one bipolar organic solvent (L). The ranges of proportions indicated are in each case based on the total weight of the cleaning composition. Also provided herein is a method of cleaning components by employing the cleaning composition, and also the cleaned components themselves.

The present invention also relates to a method for producing a multicoat paint system using the coating composition, and to the multicoat coating thus produced.

Aqueous coating composition and production of multicoat paint systems using said coating composition

The invention relates to the use of phosphoric acid and/or of monoesters and/or diesters of phosphoric acid in aqueous basecoat materials for improving adhesion of these coating materials to overbaked clearcoat materials which comprise boron compounds.

Method for producing a multicoat paint system

The present invention relates to a method for producing a multicoat paint system on a metallic substrate, in which a basecoat or a plurality of directly successive basecoats are produced directly on a metallic substrate coated with a cured electrocoat, a clearcoat is produced directly on the one basecoat or the uppermost of the plurality of basecoats, and then the one or more basecoats and the clearcoat are jointly cured, and wherein at least one basecoat material used for production of the basecoats comprises at least one linear hydroxy-functional reaction product (R) having an acid number of less than 20 mg KOH/g, the preparation of which involves using at least one compound (v) containing two functional groups (v.1) and an aliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbyl radical (v.2) which is arranged between the functional groups and has 12 to 70 carbons atoms.
