A multi-chamber balloon for a nuclear implant has an elastomeric membrane defining inner and outer chambers integral with a valve body. The valve body includes a core portion and sealing membrane for sealing the inner and outer chambers. An assembly for manufacturing the multi-chamber balloon includes a balloon mandrel which may be dip coated in a silicone dispersion to create an elastomeric membrane for the inner and outer chambers integral with the valve body. The elastomeric membrane formed on the mandrel is partially inverted to form a coaxial elastomeric structure with the smaller inner chamber disposed within the larger outer chamber. The valve is incorporated into the inner and outer chambers to form a unitary structure.

Percutaneous implantable nuclear prosthesis

Inflatable spinal implants are disclosed for intra-vertebral or inter-vertebral reduction and fixation of osteoporotic fractures in a spine. An inflatable implant may include an inflatable member having an interior for receiving a hardenable fluid and an expandable jacket to cause differential and directional expansion of the inflatable member. A one-way valve may be configured to prevent hardenable fluid from escaping out of the inflatable member. An inflatable implant may include a connection fixation device having a fluid coupling configured for releasable engagement with an inflation cannula and an anchoring portion configured for holding the implant in place within a vertebra. The fluid coupling may also be configured for releasable engagement with an anti-rotation device, which may be used to hold the implant stationary to facilitate engagement and disengagement of the inflation cannula with the fluid coupling. Related systems and methods are also described.

Inflatable spinal implants and related systems and methods

An elastomeric device for improving the erection of the human penis may include a frustoconical collar sized to receive and snugly jacket the user's penis and apply effective pressure on the dorsal penile veins, and a radially extending pubic shield adapted to overlay the pubic area of the user. An elastic strap attached to the pubic shield may encircle the underside of the scrotum to apply effective pressure on the deep veins behind the scrotum and to retain the device on the user's penis during sexual activity. When used in combination with a conventional vacuum erection device, substantially airtight seals are established around the open end of the vacuum device, the base of the penis, and the anterior sealing surface of the pubic shield during evacuation pumping. External penile prosthesis for augmenting male potency

A prosthesis for implantation in a de-nucleated intervertebral disc includes a fiber ring-like layer which encloses a polymeric layer to create an annular space. The annular space is inflatable with an in-situ curable liquid polymer and forms an interior cavity. The annular space may be expanded uniformly or differentially to be tailored to the needs of a particular vertebral segment and to achieve optimal disc space width and angle, thereby stabilizing the segment while preserving normal motion of the vertebral segment. The interior cavity provides a void that allows inward deformation of the implant during weight bearing activities and bending. The prosthesis can be elastically deformed through axial elongation to a reduced profile to load into a delivery cannula using pulling techniques.

This specification describes technologies relating to an intervertebral disc prosthesis used to strengthen and stabilize the spine. Implementations of the technology described herein comprise a surgical device that is implanted through a small surgical incision into a portion of a human intervertebral disc, various support tools used to insert such a surgical device, and a method by which the device is used to strengthen and stabilize the spine.

Prosthetic spinal disk nucleus

A transorally implantable intragastric helical prosthesis for treating obesity. The helical prosthesis has a primary lumen having a balloon element therein, and a secondary lumen having a spring wire element therein. The prosthesis also includes an end fitting. When deployed into the stomach of a patient, the prosthesis spontaneously reverts from a linear pre-deployment configuration to a helical post-deployment configuration by the biasing action of the spring wire element. Upon inflation of the elongated balloon element, the prosthesis unwinds, dynamically engaging and stretching the stomach wall, reducing the intragastric space, and slowing down gastric emptying, thus promoting a feeling of satiety, which may result in weight loss.

Intragastric helical prosthesis for treating obesity

An intervertebral implantation system for restoring disc height and vertebral alignment, while allowing dynamic mobility and stabilization of the vertebral segment, and minimally invasive methods of implanting the same. The implantation system includes an annular reinforcement implant, including an elastomeric balloon inserted into the hollow or interior of a tubular sleeve, and secured only at a first and second neck portions to a securement element coupled to an attachment fixture, forming an annular structure attached to the outer margin of the annulus fibrosus. When the prosthetic implant is in a contracted state the tubular sleeve is redundant and undulated, forming folds, gathered loosely around the circumference of the inner balloon. Upon pressurized inflation with in-situ curable polymer, the elastomeric balloon elongates and expands circumferentially, and the tubular sleeve stretches and unfolds, constraining further expansion and elongation of the elastomeric balloon. The attachment fixture is configured to provide secure attachment to the outer margin of the annulus fibrosus. A temporary, high pressure vertebral distraction balloon is utilized to aid in vertebral distraction during a surgical procedure to implant the annular reinforcement implant.

Radially expandable annulus reinforcement prosthesis

A system for affecting, augmenting, or enhancing erection of the penis includes an elastomeric sleeve designed to comfortably and securely encircle the base of the penis. The sleeve is provided with a pair of inflatable chambers, a dorsal insert, and a ventral insert which are configured to apply focal pressure on the dorsal penile veins, while avoiding undue constriction of the corpora cavernosa or compression of the urethra, dorsal penile arteries, or nerves. The system includes fluid transfer apparatus having a reservoir for pressurized fluid, a pump, and valves for controlling the flow of fluid to the inflatable chambers. The system also includes an inflatable sealing apparatus which, when used in combination with a conventional vacuum erection tube, forms an airtight seal between the sleeve and the open end of the inflatable sealing member.

External penile erection system

An expandable implant for augmenting a damaged or otherwise torn posterior annulus fibrosus. The implant is deployable into an evacuated posterior disc space following a subtotal nuclectomy. The implant includes an inflatable balloon which is fixed to the annulus fibrosus to protect against migration. When inflated with a curable polymer, the posterior wall of the implant is intimately disposed along the inner surface of the annulus fibrosus to provide a substantially fluid-tight seal of the annular tear or defect and reinforce the weakened posterior annulus. The anterior wall of the implant sequesters the nuclear remnant to guard against disc remnant herniation. The implant can restore intradiscal pressure and disc height. An integrated posterior reinforcement band creates a strong, yet flexible and resilient structure, resistant to penetration of the implant through the annular tear or defect.

Nuclear implant apparatus and method following partial nuclectomy

An inter-vertebral disc prosthesis intended for percutaneous deployment comprises an expandable annular enclosure and an expandable nuclear enclosure. The expandable annular enclosure incorporates a reinforcing annular band along its periphery and is filled with in-situ curable rubber. The expandable nuclear enclosure is filled with a gas. The nuclear prosthesis further incorporates a novel, integrally molded sealing valve assembly and is stretchable and collapsible into a minimal profile for ease of insertion into a specially designed delivery cannula, and is inflation-assisted expandable into an inter-vertebral disc in which complete percutaneous nuclectomy has been performed.
