A user equipment (UE) may receive, during release from a radio access network (RAN), resource information associated with attaching to the RAN, wherein the resource information is received based on the device being authenticated. The UE may store the resource information in a data structure associated with the UE, and may receive, when the UE includes a payload of data packets to transmit to the RAN, a signal from the RAN. The UE may determine, based on the signal, whether the RAN is a same RAN that provided the resource information, and may determine whether a strength of the signal from the RAN satisfies a threshold when the RAN is the same RAN that provided the resource information. The UE may attach to the RAN when the strength of the signal satisfies the threshold, and may provide the payload to the RAN via a random access channel of the RAN.

Systems and methods for dynamic prioritized transmission and receipt of data packets to and from a radio access network during an attach procedure

Methods and apparatus for allocating scrambling codes to cells of a wireless network. In an example method, current scrambling code allocation information for a plurality of cells and network configuration information for a radio access network are received. A reallocation of scrambling codes to the plurality of cells is computed, based on the current scrambling code allocation information and the network configuration information, using a metaheuristic algorithm. A change in scrambling code for at least one of the plurality of cells is then triggered, based on the computed reallocation. In some embodiments, the metaheuristic algorithm is based on an objective function that comprises a summation of interference metrics for each of the plurality of cells, wherein the interference metrics depend on scrambling code allocations to the plurality of cells. In some embodiments, a simulated annealing metaheuristic is used.

Automated, dynamic minimization of inter-cell site interference in CDMA networks

A system includes a first antenna array, and a sector scheduler. The sector scheduler determines if a number of transmit antennas of the first antenna array, that serves a location of a user equipment (UE), is less than a maximum multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) capability of the UE. The sector scheduler causes data to be transmitted to the UE via one or more transmit antennas of the first antenna array and at least one transmit antenna associated with a second antenna array of a selected adjacent sector based on the number of transmit antennas of the first antenna array being less than the maximum MIMO capability of the UE.

Systems and methods for dynamic inter-sector MIMO transmission

A first base station determines a maximum MIMO capability of a UE that equals a maximum number of spatial layers that the UE can receive. The first base station determines if the number of transmit antennas of the first base station, that serves a location of the UE, is less than the maximum MIMO capability of the UE and identifies adjacent sectors that currently serve the location of the UE. The first base station selects at least one adjacent sector, associated with a second base station, from the identified adjacent sectors based on the number of transmit antennas of the first base station being less than the maximum MIMO capability of the UE, and causes data to be transmitted to the UE via one or more transmit antennas of the first base station and at least one transmit antenna associated with the selected at least one adjacent sector.

Methods and apparatus for allocating scrambling codes to cells of a wireless network. Techniques described herein may be used to enable a base station to dynamically implement error correction procedures (e.g., Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ), Forward Error Correction (FEC), etc.) based on one or more factors, such as a level of network activity, network congestion, etc. When network congestion is high, the network device may implement an error correction policy that is directed to using available network resources to prioritize error correction procedures for transmission failures with high service requirements. However, when network congestion is low, the network device may implement an error correction policy directed to optimizing error correction effectiveness by allocating unused network resources (e.g., bandwidth, physical channels, etc.) to correct transmission failures.

Dynamic error correction procedures

The number of active antenna ports used for uplink and/or downlink MIMO transmissions to a given user are dynamically adjusted, based on user data traffic payload size per period of time, and based on RF conditions. An example method, in a radio transceiver that supports two or more MIMO transmission and reception modes, begins with evaluating channel conditions between the radio transceiver and a remote wireless device and comparing a throughput demand for the remote wireless device to a forward link capacity and/or reverse link capacity. A forward link transmission mode or a reverse link transmission mode is changed, based on the channel conditions and the throughput demand. The transmission mode is changed from a first multi-stream mode to a second multi-stream mode having fewer streams than the first multi-stream mode, despite that channel conditions for the corresponding link support the first multi-stream mode.
