Noisy-neighbor detection and remediation is provided by performing real-time monitoring of workload processing and associated resource consumption of application components that use shared resource(s) of a computing environment, determining workload and shared resource consumption patterns for each of the application components, for each application, of a plurality of applications, that includes at least one application component of the application components, correlating the determined workload and shared resource consumption patterns of each of those application component(s) and determining a correlated shared resource usage pattern for that application, performing impact analysis to determine impact of the applications on each other, and identifying noisy-neighbor(s) that use the one or more shared resources and automatically raising an alert indicating those noisy-neighbor(s).

Provided is a technology to scan a document for file attachments, generate alternative file names corresponding to a particular attachment, determine whether or not the particular file attachment is the latest version of a file or has a name and/for file path that could he confused with the name and/or path of another file. In the event one or more of the above conditions is met, techniques are also provided to verify that the file attachment is the desired file and, if necessary, to select an alternative file for attachment.

Reducing errors in sending file attachments

A computer implemented method, system and/or computer program product handle problems caused by a modification to an information technology (IT) system. Problem-data, describing a known problem to a first IT system that occurred during a modification to the first IT system; severity-data, describing a severity of the known problem; and solution-data, describing a solution of steps to be taken to correct the known problem, are received and stored. A modification alert indicates that the modification will be applied to a second IT system that is different from the first IT system. If the first IT system and the second IT system share a pre-determined amount of common features, then a severity map, which describes the known problem, the severity of the known problem, and the solution to the known problem as applied to the second IT system, is displayed to a user of the second IT system.

A method and apparatus for discovering services in a service registry. When an enterprise service bus receives a service request, the enterprise service bus determines whether the service name in the request exists in a service registry. If not, the enterprise service bus parses the service name into constituent words, obtains synonyms for each constituent word, and constructs new service names using the synonyms in the same word order as the constituent words in the service name. The enterprise service bus determines whether the constructed service names exist in the registry. If so, the enterprise service bus obtains an address of a service provider application associated with the constructed service name in the registry and sends a request for the service matching the constructed service name to the service provider application.

A method, computer program product, and apparatus for monitoring patterns of motion are provided. A signal is received from a sensor on a user, wherein movement of the user causes the sensor to generate power to emit a signal indicative of the movement of the user. The signal is analyzed to form a current pattern of motion. The current pattern of motion is compared to a baseline pattern of motion associated with the user. A difference between the current pattern of motion and the baseline pattern of motion associated with the user is determined to form a difference. The difference is compared to a predetermined threshold. Responsive to the difference exceeding the predetermined threshold, an alert is sent.

A survey document is provided on a server, for delivery to a client on a network, having questions and potential answers in a format defining branches of the questions. Programming instructions are also provided on the server for delivery to the client on the network. Within the service provider, URLs of said accessed Web documents are converted to include a domain section specifying the service provider's domain and a path portion within said service provider's domain that is simpler than the original URL path portion. The path portion in the converted URL is usually shorter than the path portion in the original URL.

There are means associated with the receiving display stations for displaying the number of Web documents hit by said keyword searches, together with means, responsive to an excessive number of Web document hits, for enabling a user to display a hierarchical level of the domains of the Web documents hit by said searches with a count of the number of hits for each domain, and means enabling the user to interactively eliminate selected domains to thereby reduce the excess number of hits in said search.

A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for managing streaming media data. A graphical user interface having a set of controls for use in managing a media data stream is presented. User input is received for use in managing the media data stream in which the user input includes an identification of a source of the media data stream, a start time, and a desired format. The media data stream is requested using the start time and the identification of the source. The media data stream is converted into the desired format to form a formatted media data stream. The formatted media data stream is then stored on a storage media.

A consumer is provided with an implementation to personalize his compact optical recording discs. A compact optical recording disc comprising a primary section including a read-only permanent digital data recording, and an ancillary read-write section enabling a user to digitally record data to thereby personalize the recording disc to the needs of the user. The section including the read-only permanent digital recording is on a spiral track on said recording disc, and the read-write section is on a spiral track extension continuous with the continuous track. The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product for checking for viruses by adding a virus scanning capability to a data transfer device. In a method of the present invention a real-time virus checker is stored on a controller. The virus checker scans data as it is being written to a file. If a virus is detected, the suspected file is flagged. Anti-virus software is then invoked to perform a scan of the entire suspected file. In this manner, demands on CPU resources to perform scans will be greatly reduced as only those files marked as possibly containing a viruse need to be scanned, rather than scanning all the files on the entire data transfer device.

Method and system for offloading real-time virus scanning during data transfer to storage peripherals

Methods for monitoring user specific information on websites by searching websites and displaying the results based at least partially on geographical region are disclosed. Embodiments may include receiving a search request including one or more keywords and searching a database based on the received search request to generate search results, where the search results include an indication of one or more websites each with an associated geographical region. Embodiments may also include generating a geographical user interface page based on the search results, where the page includes an indication of the one or more opinion websites superimposed on a map based on their associated geographical region. Embodiments may further include transmitting the generated geographical user interface page. Further embodiments may include generating geography-based directed advertising based on the search results or receiving and storing a rating for a website from a user.
