A capnography system includes a COsensing system having a COsensor configured to measure a COconcentration in exhaled breath of a subject, a processor configured to derive one or more breath related parameters based on the measured COconcentration, and a communication unit. The capnography system includes a tubing system configured to allow flow of respiratory gasses therethrough. The tubing system includes a connector configured to connect the tubing system to the COsensing system and a communication component configured to provide an indication of a type of the tubing system to the communication unit. The communication unit is configured to transfer data to the processor based on the indication obtained from the communication component, and the processor is configured to change or suggest a change of an operation mode of the COsensing system based on the data.

A system for a medical system includes a position sensing unit to sense a displacement of a medical device from a medically operational point on a subject, and a signal processing circuit to output, based on the sensed displacement, a signal to disable an alert system when the medical device is for sensing a physiological parameter of a subject during a medical procedure and the displacement is greater than a first threshold value, or to output a signal to enable the alert system when the medical device is for delivering treatment to the subject and the displacement is greater than a second threshold value.
