System and method for combined ranging and GNSS positioning

A system and method for determining accurate positions of stationary global navigation satellite system (GNSS) sensors are provided. The method comprises triggering collection of satellite measurements by each of at least a first stationary GNSS sensor and a second stationary GNSS sensor, wherein the satellite measurements are collected per epoch; determining a position of the first stationary GNSS sensor using the satellite measurements collected by the first stationary GNSS; and determining a position of the second stationary GNSS sensor using the satellite measurements collected by the second stationary GNSS and at least the determined position of the first stationary GNSS, wherein the first stationary GNSS sensor is deployed in the vicinity of the second GNSS sensor.

A system and method for detecting cyber-attacks. The method includes receiving satellite data from at least one satellite orbiting at a location of a ground-level sensor. The satellite data is received from the ground-level sensor. The method also includes determining whether the received satellite data is valid, and upon determining that the received satellite data is invalid, extracting a list of GNSS devices in a region where the ground-level sensor is deployed, and alerting each GNSS device in the list of GNSS devices on a potential cyber-attack.

System and method for providing cyber security for satellite-based navigation systems

A system and method for providing navigation through an underground space. The method includes receiving ephemeris data of a plurality of satellites in orbit at a location of the underground space, determining a schedule of the plurality of satellites in orbit, obtaining location of a plurality of pseudolites within the underground space, and determining satellite parameters to configure each of the plurality of pseudolites. Satellite parameters are determined based on the obtained location of each pseudolites and the determined satellite schedule. Also, the satellite parameters include at least a signal modulation parameter and a broadcast data parameter. The method also includes configuring each of the plurality of pseudolites with the respective satellite parameters, and controlling the plurality of pseudolites to broadcast satellite signals based on the determined satellite parameters. The broadcasted satellite signals simulate locations of the plurality of satellites in orbit.

System and method for navigation with limited satellite coverage area

A system and method for locating a mobile device relative to a vehicle using mechanical waves and modulation techniques. A high frequency carrier wave that is generally inaudible to humans is modulated with a low frequency baseband signal that provides for accurate localization in order to generate a modulated signal. The modulated signal is a mechanical or pressure wave, as opposed to an electromagnetic (EM) wave, that is transmitted by one or more speaker(s) and is received by one or more microphone(s). In one example, the modulated signal is transmitted from a speaker on the mobile device (e.g., a smart phone) to a number of microphones mounted on the vehicle at specific distances apart, so as to establish multiple localization paths whose differences in phase can be used to determine the location of the mobile device, relative to the vehicle.

Examples of techniques for identifying external devices using a wireless network associated with a vehicle are disclosed. In one example implementation, a method includes initializing, by a processing system, an unsecure wireless network identified by a service set identifier (SSID). The method further includes receiving, by the processing system, a safety message from an external device external to a vehicle. The method further includes processing, by the processing system, the safety message to determine a location and a movement vector of the external device without performing a dynamic internet protocol address allocation to the external device. A passive entry-passive start portable device detection system. A portable device includes a transceiver. At least one vehicle-based transceiver broadcasts an interrogation signal. The transceiver of the portable device transmits a response signal in response to the interrogation signal. A controller determining at least a range of the portable device as a function of the time-of-flight of the interrogation and response signals. The controller controls a measurement duty cycle of the interrogation signal as a function of the determined range.
