Systems and methods are described for performing a travel search and presenting search results to a user. A computing device may retrieve multiple travel documents and analyze the travel documents to identify points of interest. The computing device may analyze the subset of the travel documents that have points of interest or significant information regarding points of interest. The computing device is configured to calculate a POI relevance score based on text associated with the identified POIs. The POI relevance score indicates how likely the text is relevant to a travel search and rank the subset of the travel documents based on the POI relevance score.

User retrieval enhancement

A computer-automated method and system of providing a searchable knowledge base with decision-relevant attributes (including some subjective or sentiment-based attributes) for a plurality of individual items within a choice set are described. First, information (including texts) relevant to the plurality of individual items in the choice set is harvested from Internet sources. Next, normalized representations of statements are extracted from excerpts of the harvested texts that pertain to attributes of interest for the choice set, and corresponding scores for the attributes are derived from each of the normalized representations. The scores derived from the various harvested sources are aggregated for each attribute of each item. Finally, the knowledge base of the plurality of individual topics is generated.

Apparatus and method for handling a message

Disclosed embodiments enable improved perception of a user's response and/or preferences. Search results responsive to a query are presented to the user. Parameters associated with an implicit user response are tracked. The implicit response may consist of a delay from the presentation of the user response; a speed of, a volume of, a tone of, or a word used in a user response; a speed, a direction, and/or a consistency of a pointer movement; a location of a touch; a change in a touch; and/or a user movement captured by a camera. Measurements and other information derived from the tracked parameters may be stored in a user profile, which may later be used to calculate a personalized implicit response. An implicit response may be calculated from the parameters. The implicit response may be used to qualify an explicit response, which may be the impetus to modify search results.

System and method for improved search experience through implicit user interaction

A system for retrieving and presenting a boarding pass includes a mobile computer apparatus configured to monitor incoming messages for boarding pass information from an entity issuing a boarding pass and send a request for a boarding pass to a remote server in response to detecting boarding pass information. The request includes the detected boarding pass information and a display characteristic of the mobile computer apparatus. The system further includes a remote server configured to use the boarding pass information to retrieve additional boarding pass information from the entity issuing the boarding pass, in response to receiving the request. The remote server is further configured to generate a new boarding pass formatted for presentation via the mobile computer apparatus based on the display characteristic of the mobile computer apparatus and the boarding pass retrieved from the entity issuing the boarding pass.
