A technique facilitates deployment of open hole gravel packing equipment and sand control equipment downhole in a single trip. According to an embodiment, the technique utilizes a pipe string, e.g. a workstring or a drill string, for use in an open hole gravel packing operation. The pipe string is equipped with a sand control system having at least one filtration medium, Additionally, the pipe string comprises a valve and a valve actuation device. The valve actuation device is capable of being remotely activated in a manner allowing setting of one or more packers downhole without blocking subsequent flow through the pipe string.

Systems and methods for single trip gravel packing in open hole borehole

Systems and methods are provided to facilitate connection of multiple stage completions. A first completion stage is deployed at a wellbore location. Subsequently, the next completion stage is moved downhole into engagement with the first completion stage. The completion stages each have communication lines that are coupled together downhole via a wetmate connection. Systems and methods for determining an orientation of the communication lines relative to the wellbore are also provided.

A completion string includes at least one isolation packer positioned between well zones of a plurality of well zones, and a sand control assembly and a circulating assembly each disposed uphole of a washdown shoe in the bottom-most well zone. A top well zone includes a return valve assembly, a production packer, and a second circulating assembly and a second sand control assembly downhole of the production packer. The completion string also includes an outer string spanning from the bottom-most well zone to the top well zone, and an inner production string concentrically arranged within the outer string, creating an inner-annulus between the outer string and inner production string. The inner-annulus is continuous from the washdown shoe to the return valve assembly, and the inner production string includes a production valve disposed between the sand control assembly and the circulating assembly in each of the bottom-most and top well zones.
