An apparatus for estimating location of a location request terminal receives a location request signal including first wireless communication infrastructure measurement information through a first wireless communication infrastructure of first coverage range and a second wireless communication infrastructure measurement information through a second wireless communication infrastructure of second coverage range greater than the first coverage range, estimates different types of second wireless communication infrastructure measurement information measured at the same location as the location request terminal, generates extended second wireless communication infrastructure measurement information by combining the second wireless communication infrastructure measurement information and the estimated second wireless communication infrastructure measurement information, and determines location of the location request terminal through comparison between a location DB storing the measurement information collected through the first wireless communication infrastructure and the second wireless communication infrastructure in correspondence with each grid location and the extended second wireless communication infrastructure measurement information.

Method and apparatus for estimating location

A computing device loads signal strengths of wireless communication signals collected at a plurality of first collection areas and position information of the first collection areas, sets positions of a plurality of virtual transmitting apparatuses. The computing device estimates signal strengths of wireless communication signals in a plurality of second collection areas based on a distance between a position of each of the virtual transmitting apparatuses and each of the first collection areas, a signal strength collected at each of the first collection areas, and a distance between a position of each of the virtual transmitting apparatuses and each of the second collection areas. The computing device determines an optimal virtual transmitting apparatus among the virtual transmitting apparatuses, and generates positioning data at the second collection areas based on signal strengths in the second collection areas which are estimated based on a position of the optimal virtual transmitting apparatus.

Apparatus and method for generating positioning database

Provided are a method for determining a moving direction of a terminal and correcting a position thereof, and a positioning apparatus using the same. Relative direction information is estimated based on N pieces of position information of the terminal, and distortion information is removed from the relative direction information to acquire relative direction information without direction integrity. Further, the relative direction information is transmitted into absolute direction information to acquire a moving path direction of the terminal. Next, the position information of the terminal is corrected based on the moving path direction of the terminal.

An infrastructure information collecting device collects measurement information including location information regarding a plurality of wireless access devices disposed in an indoor space based on an indoor map, and a positioning system generates information regarding a wireless communication infrastructure of the corresponding indoor space based on the thusly collected measurement information. The positioning system then provides the generated wireless communication infrastructure information to a terminal of which location is desired to be measured, and then the terminal measures its location based on the wireless communication infrastructure information and signals received from nearby wireless access devices.
