A display apparatus providing a virtual image to user is provided. The display apparatus may include a hologram optical element on a path of light emitted from a display panel. The display panel may emit light having different peak wavelength ranges. The reflection angle or the refraction angle recorded in the hologram optical element is different according to the peak wavelength range. Thus, the display apparatus may provide a plurality of virtual images having different focal lengths to the user without physical movement or mechanical operation of the display panel.

Display apparatus realizing a virtual image

A display device includes a display panel including a plurality of sub-pixel areas, and a light travel-direction changing layer including a plurality of light-transmitting patterns for changing the travel direction of light emitted from the plurality of sub-pixel areas, respectively. In this connection, a central point of a light-emission face of each of the plurality of light-transmitting patterns is defined as a point at which a virtual face corresponding to the light-emission face of each of the plurality of light-transmitting patterns contacts an optimal light-path line connecting a sub-pixel area corresponding to each light-transmitting pattern and a central point of the viewing area to each other. In this way, light from the sub-pixel area may pass through the light-transmitting pattern and may be directed toward the central point of the viewing area. Thus, the display quality in the viewing area may be improved.

A light field display device including: a display panel including a plurality of subpixels each emitting a light field; and a lenticular lens array on the display panel and including a plurality of lenticular lenses, wherein the plurality of lenticular lenses correspond to a plurality of subpixel groups each including the plurality of subpixels, and wherein a width of each of the plurality of subpixel groups is greater than a width of each of the plurality of lenticular lenses.

Light field display device having improved viewing angle

A three dimensional (3D) display apparatus can include lenticular lenses between a display panel and a viewing angle control film. The display panel can have a curvature. The viewing angle control film can include a plurality of light-blocking patterns between a first control substrate and a second control substrate. A pitch and a height of the plurality of light-blocking patterns can be determined by a curvature radius of the lenticular lenses, a distance between the viewing angle control film and a set viewing region, and a length of the display panel corresponding to the set viewing region. Thus, in the 3D display apparatus, the quality of 3D images provided to a user can be improved.

3D display apparatus having lenticular lenses

A 3D display apparatus in which lenticular lenses are disposed on a display panel is provided. The display panel can include pixel regions arranged in a pen-tile shape. For example, the display panel can include a first column of pixel regions in which a first pixel region displaying a first color and a second pixel region displaying a second color are alternatively disposed in a first direction, and a second column of pixel regions in which a third pixel region displaying a third color is disposed, and the first column and the second column can be alternatively disposed in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. Each of the lenticular lenses can extend in an inclined direction. Thus, in the 3D display apparatus, the rate of color reproduction can be improved in a pen-tile shape.

A 3D display apparatus including lenticular lenses is provided. The lenticular lenses may be disposed between a display panel and a viewing angle control film. A direction in which the lenticular lenses extend may be inclined with a direction in which pixel regions of the display panel are arranged. The display panel may include light-blocking patterns overlapping with a boundary of the lenticular lenses. Thus, in the 3D display apparatus, the quality of the image provided to the user may be improved.

A heads-up display device includes a display unit which outputs a 3D image and at least one holographic optical element which is attached to a windshield of the vehicle to diffract and reflect the 3D image output from the display unit so that a reflection efficiency of the 3D image may be improved while minimizing a module volume.

Heads-up display device

A transparent display apparatus is provided. The transparent display apparatus may include a display panel realizing an image. The image realized by the display panel may display on an image formed by light passing through the display panel. In the transparent display apparatus, the moving path of light emitted from the display panel may longer than the moving path of light passing through the display panel, so that the quality and the viewing angle of the image realized by the display panel may be improved.

Disclosed are a 3D image display device and a driving method thereof. The 3D image display device includes a panel, a barrier panel, an image collector, and a timing controller. The panel includes a plurality of left-eye pixels and right-eye pixels. The barrier panel is disposed at a front surface of the panel, and includes a light transmitting area and a light blocking area. The image collector collects images of an object. The timing controller sets and stores a view map with the images in a view map correction mode and, in a 3D viewing mode, determines which of a plurality of viewing zones for a 3D image the object is located in and generates a barrier control signal for driving the barrier panel according to the determined result.
