Provided are a method for generating an instantaneous decoding refresh (IDR) unit for trick play, and a trick play system and method using the same. The trick play system includes: a speed information input unit configured to receive a speed value; a transmission condition determining unit configured to determine instantaneous decoding refresh (IDR) transmission conditions based on the speed value inputted through the speed information input unit; a double-speed IDR-unit generating unit configured to generate a double-speed IDR-unit by adjusting the number and data size of video frames to be transmitted in accordance with the transmission conditions determined by the transmission condition determining unit; and a transmitting unit configured to transmit the generated double-speed IDR-unit to an external user terminal.

Provided is a method for finding a minimal signed digit with variable multi-bit coding. The method includes the steps of: scanning and grouping given multi-bit and checking the type of each group; deciding whether each group is to be performed by any one of a coding for positive number and a coding of negative number depending on the type of each group; converting the value of each group into a corresponding value of different number system and finding a signed digit based on the converted value; if the type of each group indicates the coding for negative number, performing bitwise inverting on the value of each group; and converting multi-bit subjected to the bitwise inverting into a corresponding value of different number system, and finding a signed digit based on the converted value.

Provided are a file storage system, and a method for managing duplicate files in the file storage system. The file storage system that performs file duplication for error recovery includes a client for requesting generation of a duplicate file of a new file being stored, a metadata server for storing information associated with prestored duplicate files and determining whether a file that is identical to the new file is present among the prestored duplicate files, to limit a number of identical duplicate files to a preset number, and a data server comprising a file duplication unit and a storage unit for respectively performing file duplication and file storage under the control of the metadata server. Accordingly, file recovery can be performed while duplicate files in the system are minimized.

Provided are a method and a system for managing a file metadata, which are independent of a address change of a data server and movements of a disk by using a location of disk where data exists actually as a location information of a file data. The method for managing the file metadata includes determining whether the request of the metadata is valid, verifying information of a disk storing a file data corresponding to the metadata and a data server address in which the file data exists, and transmitting the verified address of the data server to the client. Provided are a content-based searching method and system for multimedia objects using a high-dimensional feature vector data based on a 2-level signature. The method for searching the high-dimensional data using a signature file includes calculating a first-level query signature and a second-level query signature by using the query feature vector, performing a first filtering operation to obtain a primary candidate cell group by searching a second-level signature file, and performing a secondary filtering operation to obtain a secondary candidate cell group having a high similarity in a primary candidate cell group. Accordingly, the high-dimensional data searching method and system can process a query quickly and accurately and can increase the searching accuracy by using an enhanced signature of the query feature vector.

The network scheduler selectively supports a work conserving mode to network scheduling units (NSUs) serving as network entities by using a token bucket scheme, such that the network scheduler ensures an allocated network bandwidth or enables the NSUs to use a remaining bandwidth. An apparatus for searching a socket ID of a received packet in a transmission control protocol (TCP) and a user datagram protocol (UDP) is provided. The apparatus includes: a master module, a branch table module and a tree table module. The master module analyzes command information from a processor, transfers commands to the branch table module and to the tree table module, receives results from the branch table module and from the tree table module, and reports the received results to the processor. The branch table module receives commands from the master module and manages a branch table by using only the lower 10 bits of a simple internet protocol (IP) address of the commands.
