The waterborne polyurethane polymer compound improves the binding properties of the electrode. In addition, the polymer compound disperses well in water and is hardened through a crosslinking reaction to increase elastic force, thereby enabling adjustment of elastic and binding forces. As a result, a battery including the polymer compound has excellent recovery and charge/discharge properties.

A binder for an electrode of a fuel cell is a basic polymer including a nitrogen-containing functional group and a proton conductive polymer having a phosphoric acid impregnation capacity of 200 wt % or less. An electrode for a fuel cell includes the binder and a catalyst, and a fuel cell includes the electrode. The electrode is manufactured by mixing the binder, a catalyst, and a solvent; and coating the mixture on a carbon support and heat-treating the coated mixture. The binder has excellent proton conductivity by having a phosphoric acid impregnation capacity of 200 wt % or less, and has improved durability without membrane damage and micro-structural changes due to swelling, which occurs when PBI is used as a binder. Accordingly, an electrode including the binder has improved phosphoric acid retention capacity, and increased wetting velocity. Thus, a fuel cell having improved efficiency can be manufactured due to the improved proton conductivity and durability of the electrode.

The present invention relates to a polymer electrolyte membrane that includes a porous polymer matrix and an ion conducting polymer coating membrane formed in the outer surface of single fibers in the porous polymer matrix. The polymer electrolyte membrane can provide excellent mechanical strength, is not deteriorated by heat even at a temperature higher than 100&#xb0;C., can provide excellent ion conductivity even at non-humidified state. Thus it is suitable for use in a fuel cell that is operated at high temperatures.

Provided are a lithium secondary battery with suppressed decomposition of an electrolytic solution, and a preparation method thereof. The lithium secondary battery includes a current collector, a cathode and an anode having each active material layer formed on the current collector, and a polymer electrolyte interposed between the cathode and the anode. In the lithium secondary battery, a fluorine resin film is formed on at least one surface of the active material layers of the cathode and the anode. A fluorine resin exists in pores between constituents contained in at least one active material layer of the cathode and the anode. The polymer electrolyte is a polymerized product of a crosslinking monomer and an electrolytic solution including a lithium salt and an organic solvent. Also, a porous membrane made of an insulating resin is interposed between the cathode and the anode.
